They scored 3 runs in the first on a walk and 4 singles before Wright even recorded an out but he managed to strand 2. A 2-out walk and double in the 2nd made it 4-0 New Orleans but Billy Butler stroked a 2-out, 2-run double in the 3rd to trim the lead to 4-2. The Zephyrs blew it open, however, with 4 runs in the 4th on 3 hits, a Wright throwing error on a pickoff attempt and a 2-run homer that made it 8-2. Dave Matranga hit his 2nd homer of the season as a solo shot in the 5th but Brad Salmon gave up a run in the 6th to make it 9-3. A Kila Kaaihue sac fly in the 1st made it 1-0 NWA but the Naturals stranded 2 and Tulsa got a walk, steal, 3 singles and a 3-run homer along with an Angel Sanchez error and another steal before Wood finally got an out only to get pulled for Paul Mildren. Mildren stranded 2 in the inning and 2 more in the 2nd but the Naturals stranded 2 in the 4th and Tulsa got to Mildren in the bottom of the inning. The Drillers loaded the bases with 0 outs and 2 sac flies were followed by a single and walk to reload the bases for new reliever Kyle Crist, who promptly served up a grand slam to Jeff Dragicevich to make it 11-1. Crist gave up a solo shot in the 6th to make it 12-1 before NWA scored 2 meaningless runs in the 7th on a Sanchez RBI double and Juan Richardson sac fly.
