* It was all Royals late as they took the opener from the Cubs. Iowa roughed up Bryan Bullington in the 1st with 2 runs on 4 hits, although David Lough gunned down a runner at the plate (via relay man Ed Lucas) to end the inning. Kila Ka'aihue led off the 2nd with his 15th homer of the season and a Cody Clark RBI double in the 2nd was followed by a 2-out Lough triple that he scored on thanks to a Cubs throwing error. Iowa tied it off Bullington in the 4th but Alex Gordon and Irving Falu teamed up to throw out a runner at the plate to end that inning. Jordan Parraz singled home the go-ahead run in the 6th and Lucas scored on a balk to make it 5-3 Omaha. Blaine Hardy loaded the bases with 1 out in the 8th but escaped the jam and threw a 1-2-3 9th for his 3rd save. Jai Miller tacked on his 9th homer for a solo shot in the 9th. Iowa RP John Gaub allowed 2 ER in an inning of work to fall to 3-3. Starter J.R. Mathes allowed 3 runs (2 ER) over 5 IP. Three I-Cubs had 2 hits. Omaha is 43-36. Gordon and Ka'aihue made the PCL All-Star team. Luis Mendoza pitches Friday as the series shifts back to Omaha finally at the end of the CWS road trip. Chris Lubanski also made the all-star team for Toronto's AAA squad.

* NW Arkansas had an answer for every challenge the Missions made and ended up on the best end of San Antonio. The Missions got a 2-run homer off Alex Caldera in the 1st but Caldera settled down to allow only 2 more hits and 2 more walks in his outing. Ernesto Mejia matched it with a 2-run homer in the 2nd for his 10th of the season. Both teams blew chances in the 3rd but Everett Teaford allowed a run in the 6th. Derrick Robinson hit a 2-out RBI single in the bottom of the inning to re-tie it and the Missions notched 2 more runs in the 7th. Again, NWA rose to the challenge as Mike Moustakas hit a leadoff homer in the 7th and Chris McConnell took a big 2-out bases-loaded walk to tie the game. Manny Pina led off the 9th with a double and it was Derrick Robinson coming through with the key swing as a 1-out sac fly ended the game. RP Brandon Gomes allowed an ER over 1 2/3 IP to fall to 4-2. Starter Wynn Pelzer allowed 3 UER over 6 IP. 2B Logan Forsythe was 3-3 with a walk and 2 RS and 1B Matt Clark had 2 hits. NWA is 5-2.

* Chris Dwyer used 3 early runs of support and the Rocks shut out the Hillcats. The Rocks loaded the bases with none out in the 1st and Wil Myers made his 1st Carolina League AB a good one with a 2-run single before Nick Francis singled in a run to account for the 3-0 score. Dwyer worked in and out of trouble in the 3rd and the Rocks left 'em loaded in the 5th. Harold Mozingo came in after 2 singles started the 7th and left the bases loaded. Christian Colon's struggles continued as he hit into 2 DPs, although one was lineout style. Hillcats SP Mark Serrano allowed 3 ER over 6 2/3 IP to drop to 3-6. CF Felix Perez and C Kevin Coddington had 2 hits for the 'Cats. The Rocks are 5-3 and in a 3-way tie for first. Ben Theriot got moved back to AA to make room for Myers. Bryan Paukovits starts the series finale Friday.

* The Bees played possum until down, 6-0, waited out Wisconsin SP Jake Odorizzi and then STRUCK. The Rattlers battered Keaton Hayenga for 4 runs in the 1st but he recovered to only allow 1 more hit and a walk over the next 4 innings. Brandon Barrow gave up a solo homer in the 7th and then another run later in the inning to make it 6-0 Wisconsin. Drew Robertson got the Bees off the ground with an RBI single in his A-ball debut and, when Odorizzi was pulled in the 8th, the Bees went to work. Joey Lewis hit an RBI single, Luis Del Rosario took a bases-loaded walk, Jose Bonilla hit an RBI groundout, and Gerard Hall tied it with a 2-run single. Carlo Testa led off the Bees' 9th with a walk, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a Rene Oriental walkoff single to end it. RP Alex Jones allowed an ER over an inning of work to blow his 1st save and drop to 0-1. Odorizzi allowed an ER over 7 IP. Four T-Rats had 2 hits. The Bees are 3-4 and on a 3-game tear.

* Idaho Falls jumped on the Ghosts like Pac-Man and got the win. Yowill Espinal hit an RBI groundout in the 1st and Murray Watts ripped a 2-run homer for his 4th as a pro before a Tim Ferguson sac fly made it 4-0 Chukars. Casper got a run in the 3rd off Greg Billo but Travis Jones led off the IF 5th with his 1st homer of the season and Lane Adams tripled and scored on an Espinal single to make it 6-1. Casper rallied for a 2-out run in the 6th but that was all IF would allow. Starter Alejandro Barraza allowed 6 runs (4 ER) over 5 IP to drop to 0-1. 2B Jeffrey Squier stroked 2 hits in the loss for Casper. IF is 5-6.

* The B-Royals exploded as an 8-run 9th made it a laugher over Bluefield. The Royals scored 2 in the 3rd on an error and a Ryan Stovall RBI groundout. Daniel Hernandez allowed 2 in the 4th to tie it but the Royals scored 3 in the 5th on a Luis Piterson 3-run homer for his 4th of the season. Yunior Figueroa hit an RBI double to make it 6-2 in the 6th. The Rocks went off in the 9th as they scored runs on a wild pitch, bases-loaded walks by Ryan Jenkins and Alex McClure, a Figueroa grand slam for his 1st homer of the season, and an Alex Llanos RBI double. Llanos doubled a guy off second to end the game. Starter Daurin Tavarez allowed 5 runs (3 ER) over 5 IP to fall to 0-2. CF Jeremy Shelby had 2 hits in the loss. The B-Royals are 5-5. * The A's rattled off 9 runs in the middle innings to take out the Royals. The A's scored a run of Jonathan Rodriguez in the 3rd but Daniel Mateo answered with a 2-run triple in the bottom of the inning. The A's scored 5 in the 5th off Rodriguez and Nick Rogers, then 2 off Rogers in the 6th. And 2 off Dylan Lindsey in the 7th. Ysmelin Alcantara went solo for his 2nd homer of the year in the 8th and, after a Jin-Ho Shin walk, Henry Moreno blasted his 1st homer of the season to cut it to 10-5. Mateo hit an RBI single in the 9th but a comeback rally was not to be as the Royals left the bases loaded. RP James Frankoff got the win with 3 scoreless IP to move to 1-2. International FA big name Michael Ynoa started for the A's and allowed 2 ER over 3 IP. 2B Neudy Clime had 3 hits, including his 1st homer, and 2 RBI (3) for the A's. 1B Miguel Marte also had 3 hits while two others had 2 hits. The Royals are 6-3. They have Friday off.
