* Omaha managed only 2 hits in the loss. Jeremy Jeffress' second start of the season didn't go that well, as he hit trouble in the 2nd and gave up 3 runs on 3 hits, a walk and wild pitch. Jarrod Dyson hit a 2-out RBI double in the 3rd and his single in the 6th was Omaha's only other hit. Tucson SP Jon Leicester allowed an ER over 6 IP with 3 K to improve to 3-0 with a 3.45 ERA. CF Cedric Hunter and 2B Jarrett Hoffpauir had 2 hits.

* The Chasers slapped together two 3-run innings early on to earn a split of the twinbill. David Lough hit an RBI single in the 1st and Kila Ka'aihue and Lorenzo Cain worked bases-loaded walks to make it 3-0. Jeff Suppan allowed 2 runs in the 2nd but Omaha loaded the bases again in the 2nd and Lough singled in a run, Mike Moustakas hit a sac fly and Cain ripped an RBI double to make it 6-2. Suppan gave up a solo homer in the 3rd but wouldn't allow another runner past second and retired the last 7. A run-scoring wild pitch and Lough sac fly added a couple gravy runs for Omaha in the 6th. 3B Jarrett Hoffpauir hit his 1st homer of the season in the loss. Omaha is 26-21. A 4-game set at the Memphis Redbirds (19-26, AAA Cards) starts Friday. There's no announced starter on the team site. RP Kanekoa Texeira was claimed by the Yankees off waivers.

* Frisco shut out the Naturals on 5 hits Thursday. Will Smith was pretty much down from the get-go as back-to-back doubles to start the 1st made it 1-0 Frisco. A solo homer in the 4th off Smith made it 2-0. NWA stranded 2 in the 5th. A Jamie Romak error helped Frisco score again in the 8th and the last 7 Nats went down in order. Frisco SP Martin Perez allowed 5 hits and 2 BB with 5 K over 7 IP to improve to 2-0 with a 2.01 ERA. 2B Davis Stoneburner and LF Jonathan Greene had 2 hits. NWA is 22-19. The series wraps Friday with Zach Miner (0-1, 4.50) starting. RP Heath Rollins got moved up to Omaha, and RP Manauris Baez got moved up from Wilmington.

* The Rocks start a 3-game set at the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (27-19, A-Adv. Rangers) on Friday with Jake Odorizzi (4-0, 2.28) starting.

* The Cougars took advantage of the bright lights of Busch Stadium in riding a good start from Leonel Santiago to a win. KC stranded 2 in the 1st and then squandered a bases-loaded situation in the 3rd. Geulin Beltre hit an RBI double in the 4th, then doubled in a run in the 6th before a double-play ball scored a run to make it 3-0. Santiago handed off a 3-hit shutout to the bullpen and it held in the 8th when Dusty Odenbach gave up a run. Chase Boruff allowed a run on an error in the 9th but recovered to strand the bases loaded. DH Cody Stanley and C Robert Stock had 2 hits for QC. KC is 20-26. A 4-game home set with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (26-21, A Brewers) starts Friday. Yordano Ventura (0-0, 13.50) will start the opener.
