AAA: Omaha blew a late lead in a 6-4 loss to Oklahoma Monday to end the season at .500. The O-Royals scored 2 in the 2nd on an RBI single by 1B Chad Santos and an RBI force out by CF Adrian Brown but Oklahoma tied it in the 4th. Omaha scored 2 more in the 6th on an RBI force attempt by 2B Rudy Gomez and an RBI double by C Jared Price to take a 4-2 lead. RP Chris George coughed up 3 runs in the 7th to give Oklahoma the lead and the RedHawks scored again in the 8th to pad the lead. SP Denny Bautista went 3 IP and allowed 2 hits and a walk with 4 Ks to drop his ERA to 2.77; and George took the loss with 5 IP of 6 ER on 11 hits and a walk with 4 Ks to drop to 8-8 with a 5.63 ERA. SS Andres Blanco was 0-5 to end the season at .254; DH Calvin Pickering was 1-4 to end the season at .275; LF Shane Costa was 1-4 to improve to .188; Price was 2-3 with a HBP, 2 doubles and an RBI to improve to .239; and Santos was 1-4 with an RBI to drop to .259. Brown stole 3 bases to end the season with 33.
Omaha finished 72-72 and 3 games back of Nashville.
AA: Wichita finished the second half 33-37 and 4 games back of first. The Wranglers were 68-72 overall.
High-A: High Desert finished the second half at 39-31 and clinched a playoff berth and the second-half division title. Overall the Mavs finished 75-65. The Mavs will face Lancaster in a best-of-3 series to start the playoffs Wednesday. Game 1 will be in Lancaster and games 2 and 3 (if necessary) will be at High Desert's place in Adelanto. High Desert also has earned home-field advantage in the second round if they advance that far.
Low-A: Burlington finished its season on a good note with a 4-3 win in 12 over Clinton Monday. The Bees led off the scoring in the 4th on a solo homer by 1B Miguel Vega (his 3rd) but Clinton tied it that inning and took the lead in the 6th off RP Justin Sherman. Burlington scored 2 in the 7th on a double play ball by SS Irving Falu and an RBI single by 2B Gary Perez to take the lead but the LumberKings tied it in the 8th and the game went into extra innings. In the top of the 12th, Vega doubled home Falu to make the score 4-3 and RP Adam Rowe set Clinton down in order in the 12th to end it. SP Rayner Oliveros went 5 IP and allowed an ER on 4 hits and 2 walks with 2 Ks to move his ERA to 6.43; Sherman went 1 2/3 IP and allowed an ER on 2 hits and a walk with 2 Ks to move his ERA to 4.90; and Rowe blew his 8th save but got the win with 5 1/3 IP of 1 ER on 4 hits and 8 Ks to improve to 6-6 with a 4.78 ERA. Falu was 2-4 with a walk and double to improve to .254; Perez was 1-6 with an RBI to finish at .252; 3B Edward Lucas was 2-6 to improve to .292; Vega was 2-6 with a double, HR and 2 RBI to improve to .276; and LF Kenard Springer was 1-2 with a walk, 2 HBP and double to end the season at .233. Falu stole his 34th base.
Burlington finished the second half at 31-39 and in the cellar of the MWL Western division. They finished 65-75 overall.
Rookie: Idaho Falls took down Casper for a 15-8 win Monday. The Chukars scored 3 in the 1st on a solo homer by SS Joshua Colafemina (his 1st), an RBI single by 3B Brenan Herrera and an RBI double by RF Byron Barber. After Casper scored in the 2nd, Idaho Falls scored 6 in the 3rd on a bases-loaded HBP by Herrera and walk by Barber before 2B Joshua Johnson cranked a grand slam (his 3rd homer) to make the score 9-1 IF. The Chukars added a run in the 4th on an RBI single by 1B Jase Turner and 2 in the 6th on a Turner 2-run shot (his 12th). Idaho Falls scored in the 8th on a Barber RBI single and added 2 in the 9th on a Turner RBI single and a wild pitch. SP Chris Nicoll couldn't hang on long enough to qualify for his first win as he went 4 IP and allowed 2 ER on 5 hits with 0 BB and 10 Ks(!!!) to move his ERA to 3.62; RP Adam Kalkhof went 1 2/3 IP and allowed 5 ER on 5 hits and 3 walks with 2 Ks to move his ERA to 4.31; RP Travis Trammell got the win with 1 1/3 IP of 1 hit with 3 Ks to improve to 2-0 with a 7.31 ERA; and RP Matt Kniginyzky went 2 IP and allowed an ER on 3 hits and 2 walks with a K to move his ERA to 4.82. CF Ethien Santana was 0-5 with a walk to drop to .302; Colafemina was 1-4 with 2 walks, a HR, RBI and 4 RS to improve to .232; C Jeff Howell was 2-3 with 3 walks and 3 RS to improve to .338; Turner was 4-4 with a walk, HBP, HR, 4 RBI and 3 RS to improve to .284; Barber was 2-5 with a walk, double and 3 RBI to improve to .312; and Johnson was 2-3 with 2 walks, a HR and 4 RBI to improve to .241.
Idaho Falls is 14-21 and out of the playoff hunt with 3 games left on the schedule.
The ASL Royals finished the second half at 15-13 and 3 games back of first. Overall the Royals finished 34-22.
