Dave Matranga changed that in the 3rd with a leadoff homer for his 4th of the season and the Royals loaded the bases with 2 outs. A Matt Tupman single ended up scoring all 3 runners after an error on an Isotopes outfielder and Gookie Dawkins singled home Tupman to make it 5-0. Horacio Ramirez had a good start as he stranded 2 in the 3rd and Lubanski singled home another run thanks to yet another 'Topes error in the 5th to make it 6-0. Matranga singled home a run in the 7th to make it 7-0 but Dawkins was thrown out at second on the play to cut the rally short. *** The teams combined for 21 hits but only 1 ended up making the difference as the Bees won it in 11. Johnny Giavotella became the first 2008 Royals draftee to debut this season and singled in the 1st but was thrown out trying to stretch it to 2 as the Bees ran into 2 outs on the basepaths in the inning. The Bees stranded 2 in the 3rd and neither team really threatened until the 7th when the Bees stranded 2 more. Giavotella made a key fielder's choice to nail a runner at the plate in the bottom of the 7th as Sam Runion escaped danger. Two more Bees were stranded in the 8th and C Ryan Eigsti threw out two base stealers in the bottom of the 8th to again help keep the Chiefs off the board. Chris Chavez left a runner at third in the 9th and then stranded 2 in the 10th. Giavotella led off the 11th with his first pro double, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a Clint Robinson single to make it 1-0 Bees.
