*** Luke Hochevar was again dominant and the O-Royals coasted to a win in the first of 2 with Nashville Saturday. Omaha didn't waste any time as the Royals loaded the bases with 1 out in the 1st, got a sac fly from Ryan Shealy, an RBI single from Travis Metcalf and a 2-run single from Irving Falu to post a 4-0 lead. Hochevar got 2 double plays behind him through 4 and Omaha padded the lead with a 3-run 5th on a Nashville error in right, a Metcalf RBI double and Chris Lubanski RBI single to make it 7-0. Falu added a sac fly in the 7th and Hochevar got another double play in the 6th before pitching a perfect 7th to finish the win. *** Sounds starter Mike Burns turned the tables on the O-Royals in game 2 with a complete-game 3-hitter to split the twinbill. Omaha lefty Lenny DiNardo had a rough 1st as the Sounds scored 2 runs on 4 hits and 2 errors before DiNardo stranded 2 in scoring position. Omaha stranded 2 in the 2nd and the Sounds got a sac fly in their half to move it to 3-0. That was all the hits the Royals would get, tho, as Burns retired 17 of the last 18, with Shealy reaching on a walk in the 6th, and the Sounds picked up an insurance run that inning en route to the 4-0 win. Burns allowed 3 hits and a walk with 7 Ks in the complete game win to move to 3-0 with a 3.00 ERA. The Naturals got both their runs in the 1st as Brian McFall hit a 2-out RBI single and Cody Strait singled home a run before NWA stranded 2 in scoring position. Arkansas responded with a run in the 2nd on 3 hits off Dan Cortes and the Travs tied it in the 5th on a 2-out RBI double by CF Coby Smith. Reckling didn't allow another hit until the 5th and the Travelers put the game away in the 6th. One run was in and runners were at the corners with 1 out when Gilbert de la Vara came in and a fielding error by 3B Corey Smith allowed a run in before 2 other hits scored 3 runs to make it 7-2 Arkansas. NWA stranded 2 in the 6th and 8th and went down in order in the 9th. Reckling allowed 2 ER on 4 hits and 5 walks with 6 Ks over 6 IP to improve to 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA.
