*** Omaha took two leads and blew two leads as Nashville took the opener of a Sunday double dip. Irving Falu tripled and scored on a Tug Hulett double to start the Omaha 1st and Scott Thorman added an RBI single before Matt Tupman drove in a run with a forceout and scored on a Cory Aldridge double to make it 4-0 Royals. Bruce Chen had 1 on with 2 out in the 3rd and had been cruising until the Sounds scored 2 runs with 2 hits then got a 2-run homer from DH Joe Koshansky for his 11th of the season to tie the game. Aldridge led off the Omaha 4th with his 6th homer of the season followed two batters later by Mario Lisson's 4th homer at AAA to make it 6-4 Omaha. Chen allowed a run on 2 hits and a walk before getting pulled for Victor Marte in the 5th. Marte allowed the tying run to score before stranding 2. Nashville pushed ahead with 2 runs on a 2-out rally of 3 hits and 2 walks in the 6th before stranding the bases loaded. Omaha left 'em full in the 6th and J.R. House pinch-hit into a game-ending double play in the 7th as RP Dave Johnson got his 3rd save. RP R.J. Swindle worked 2 2/3 scoreless innings for the win to move to 1-0 with a 0.35 ERA. Rosa 2 IP, H -- 6.59 ERA
Atencio 3 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, 3 K, HRA -- L, 2-5, 5.90 ERA

*** A somewhat unlikely pitchers' duel broke out between Dusty Hughes and Lindsay Gulin but it was the bullpens that decided it, which hasn't been favorable for Omaha this season and wasn't Sunday. Two hits scored a Sounds run in the 1st off Hughes, who then held Nashville scoreless through the rest of his 5 innings of work. Omaha stranded 2 in the 2nd and then left 'em loaded in the 4th. J.R. House drove in Omaha's only run on a double play ball in the 5th and Omaha stranded 2 in the 7th. The Royals stranded 2 again in the 9th and the Sounds got a leadoff homer from LF Michael Garciaparra (his 1st) in the 10th off Greg Atencio, plus another manufactured run to make it 3-1. Omaha went down 1-2-3 in the 10th as RP Ryan Houston pitched 4 scoreless innings for the win to move to 2-1 with a 1.40 ERA. Gulin allowed an unearned run on 4 hits and 3 walks with a K over 6 IP to drop his ERA to 5.30. CF Jason Bourgeois was 3-5 with his 13th SB, 3rd triple and 2 RS to move to .296. DH Angel Salome drove in 2 runs (18) in the win.

The O-Royals are 24-35 after losing today's series finale. Tim Hamulack took the loss as the bullpen continued its reign of terror. They have two days off starting tomorrow before the College World Series road trip, which spans 15 games. The Royals are a PCL worst 11-20 at home for a .355 winning %.
