*** Nick Adenhart held the Royals to an unearned run and the Bees bullpen finished off the win. Josh Newman stranded 2 in the 2nd and the Royals left the bases full in the inning. Omaha took the lead in the 3rd as a 2-out fielding error allowed Jason Smith to score but Brayan Pena was thrown out at second on the play. The lead lasted exactly 1 batter as Newman served up a leadoff homer in the Salt Lake 4th and a walk, wild pitch and single gave the Bees the lead for good. Brad Salmon gave up back-to-back homers for 3 runs in the 6th and Omaha never really threatened thereafter. Adenhart worked 6 1/3 innings to get the win and move to 7-10 with a 5.83 ERA. LF Dermal "Dee" Brown and RF Adam Pavkovich had 2 hits for the Bees. 3B Brandon Wood also cranked his 25th homer with 2 RBI. Pavkovich also had an error and 2 outfield assists.

Omaha is 50-64 after finishing the set with a loss tonight. Jeff Fulchino took the loss as Omaha experienced another 9th inning collapse.

*** One key groundout in the 7th was the difference for NWA as Blake Johnson helped lead the Naturals to the win in the opener with Arkansas. Johnson took a no-hitter into the 5th before giving up a single and stranding the bases loaded that inning. The Naturals loaded the bases with none out in the 7th and Cody Clark hit a 1-out RBI groundout to make it 1-0. Chris Nicoll, Tim Hamulack and Chris Hayes made it stand up for the win. Travelers SP Robert Mosebach took the loss despite a good start of 1 ER allowed in 8 IP to drop to 9-9 with a 4.71 ERA. 1B Mark Trumbo was 2-4 with a double in the loss.

NWA is 27-15 and still 4 games up on first after beating the Travs again tonight. Dan Cortes got the win.

*** A 7-run 2nd was all the Keys needed to beat Everett Teaford and the Rocks. Jeff Bianchi hit a solo homer in the 2nd for his 7th of the season but the Keys broke out the lumber in the bottom of the inning as Teaford got rocked for 7 runs on 7 hits, a walk and wild pitch. Wilmington closed the gap some with 3 in the 4th on a Matt Morizio RBI forceout, Derrick Robinson RBI single and Adrian Ortiz RBI groundout that cut it to 7-4. Frederick tacked on a 2-run homer in the 6th and solo shot in the 7th to finish it off. RP Jeff Moore got the win for the Keys with 2 1/3 scoreless IP to improve to 2-2 with a 4.25 ERA. Starter Pedro Beato allowed 4 runs (3 ER) over 3 2/3 innings. RP Fredy Deza got his 1st save for the Keys. Five Keys had 2-hit games with 3 having multiple RBI. C Justin Johnson cranked his 4th homer with 3 RBI.

The Blue Rocks bounced back with a win tonight to move to 19-22 and 5 games back. Ed Cegarra also bounced back from a couple shaky starts to get his 4th win.

*** An 8-run 7th gave the Bees an easy finish to take the opener with Ft. Wayne. A Nick Francis sac fly in the 2nd gave the Bees a 1-0 lead but Dan Duffy allowed a run in the 3rd on 2 walks and a single to tie the game. That remained the score until Wizards starter Jeremy McBryde gave way to RP Aaron Breit to start the 7th. Burlington started rallying with 1 out as Francis hit an RBI double, Kyle Martin, Ryan Eigsti, Nick Van Stratten and Johnny Giavotella hit consecutive RBI singles, Clint Robinson hit a 2-out RBI single and a wild pitch scored the 8th run of the inning to make it 9-1 Bees. Mike Moustakas singled in a run in the 8th to finish the scoring. Breit took the loss with 6 ER allowed in only 1/3 of an inning to drop to 1-5 with a 5.84 ERA, McBryde pitched 6 innings with 1 ER allowed to move his ERA to 4.60. Five Wizards had a hit each.

Burlington improved to 24-17 with another win today over the Wiz. Alex Caldera got the win. Mike Moustakas had a big day with 2 HR.

*** Idaho Falls finally beat the Owlz again in a 3-hitter although an 8th inning Orem run averted the shutout. Antonio Jimenez singled in a run in the 1st and one of Orem's 6 errors scored another run in the inning to make it 2-0 Chukars. J.D. Alfaro hit a 2-run homer in the 5th for his 5th as a pro and Ivor Hodgson was perfect through 4. That ended in the 5th but the Chukars threw out a runner at the plate to keep the Owlz off the board. C Juan Graterol left the game with a leg injury after the play at the plate. Jimenez hit a sac fly in the 7th and Justin Garcia and Gary Novakowski allowed Orem's only run in the 8th. Garcia allowed 2 singles before leaving the game with a leg injury and a run scored on a double play ball to spoil the shutout. Alfaro singled home a run in the 9th and he scored on an Orem error to make it 7-1. Orem SP Jayson Miller took the loss with 4 runs (3 ER) allowed over 4 2/3 IP to fall to 4-2 with a 1.31 ERA. 3 Owlz had a hit each.

IF is 4-2 and a game up on first after beating Orem again tonight. Orlando Rada got the win. C Brandon Fowler has been moved to IF from the AZL after Graterol got spiked.

*** Another game where a big inning for the opponent did in a Royal affiliate. The Sox scored 7 in the 2nd to get the win. Two Royals errors in the inning did starter Kelvin Herrera no good as he allowed the 7 runs on 6 hits, the 2 errors and a steal of home. Burlington's 3 runs came in the 5th on a 2-run Hilton Richardson triple and Angel Franco RBI groundout. Carson Bryant allowed an insurance run in the 6th. Starter Murillo Gouvea got the win for Bristol with 5 IP of 3 ER allowed to improve to 2-0 with a 7.13 ERA. DH Jose Vargas was 3-4 with a double and 2 RBI and 3B Hancer Vargas was 2-4 with a RS. CF Justin Greene also knocked in 2 runs for the Sox.

*** Burlington lost a 3-2 lead in the 5th and couldn't recover as Bristol swept the twinbill. Bristol got 2 runs on 3 hits off John Flanagan in the 2nd but the Royals answered with 3 runs in the 3rd on a 2-run Angel Franco single and a David Wood RBI single to take a 3-2 lead. Flanagan departed in the 5th after serving up a 2-run homer and Pernell Halliman gave up a solo homer in the 6th to make it 5-3. RP Michael Lucas locked down the win with 4 scoreless IP to move to 1-1 with a 3.38 ERA. Starter Nathan Jones went only 2 innings but didn't allow a run to drop his ERA to 1.93. 1B Jorge Castillo and RF Misael Tavarez had 2 hits for the Sox with Tavarez and LF Jordan Kendall cracking their 2nd homers.

The Royals did rebound to defeat Johnson City tonight as Giancarlo De La Cruz picked up the W. The Royals are 15-28.

*** Two Ranger runs in the 8th sealed the Royals' fate as Casey Feickert had a rough inning. Yowill Espinal doubled and scored on a Ranger error in the 1st. The Rangers scored 3 runs in the 2nd on 4 hits but Espinal tied it in the 3rd with a 2-run homer for his 3rd of the season. Miguel Mariano lifted a sac fly in the 4th to give the Royals a 4-3 lead and Geulin Beltre hit an RBI groundout in the 7th to make it 5-3 Royals. Santiago Garrido allowed a run in the 7th to trim it back to 1 and Feickert gave up a double, wild pitch and RBI single in the 8th before getting pulled for Chase Hentges with 2 on and 2 out. Hentges allowed the go-ahead single and the Royals couldn't respond in the 9th. Rangers RP Justin King pitched 3 innings with an ER allowed to improve to 2-1 with a 2.70 ERA. Starter Ben Henry worked 3 innings with 3 runs (2 ER) allowed to move his ERA to 4.22. 3B Johan Yan was 3-4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI, a K and 2 RS along with 2 E and 2 others had 2 hits for the Rangers.

The Royals lost again to the Cubs today to drop to 1-5. Deybi De La Cruz took his 1st loss of the season.
