The O-Royals got 3-hit by three Albuquerque pitchers to lose another game. The 'Topes got a 2-run homer and RBI double off SP Dewon Brazelton in the 1st and added an RBI single in the 3rd and RBI double in the 6th. Omaha stranded 2 in the 3rd, blew a 2-on, none out situation in the 4th as Billy Butler was doubled off second on a fly out, and stranded the bases full in the 5th. After that they didn't really threaten. Omaha is 2-7 and on a 3-game skid. Albuquerque LF John Gall was 2-3 with his 1st homer and 2 RBI (7) to move to .438 and DH John Baker was 2-3 with 2 doubles (5) and 2 RBI (5) to move to .600. RP Russ Wolf got the win for the Isotopes with 1 2/3 IP hitless relief and Nic Ungs got a 3-inning save for his first of the season.

Game 2 of the set is tonight. Pitchers: Isotopes RH Ricardo Rodriguez (0-0, 5.40) vs. RH Ben Hendrickson (0-1, 18.00).
Minor injuries and the flu have been stated as the reasons for the recent absences of SS Angel Berroa, 1B Justin Huber and C Paul Phillips from the lineup over 5 games.

Wichita launched a late comeback from a 6-0 deficit to get the win and drop the Hooks to their sixth straight L. The Hooks got an RBI double in the 3rd and scored 5 in the 5th thanks in part to 2 Irving Falu throwing errors. Adam Greenberg scored the Wranglers' first run on a Chris Lubanski ground out in the 7th and Wichita scored 3 in the 8th on an Onil Joseph force out and 2-run single by Greenberg. Craig Brazell had the big hit with a 2-run homer in the 9th (his 3rd) to tie the game off RP Enyelbert Soto and Wichita broke the tie in the 11th as Joseph hit a 2-out RBI single to bring Mike Stodolka home. Jarod Plummer allowed the first two batters to reach in the bottom of the 11th but got out of the jam to pick up his 3rd save. Wichita is 5-2 and 2 games up on first. C Louis Santangelo was 4-5 with his 3rd double to move to .450, 2B Jonathan Ash was 3-5 with his 3rd RBI to move to .391 and LF Ray Sadler was 1-5 with his 2nd double and 3 RBI (4) to move to .143. Hooks SP Josh Miller allowed only an ER on 3 hits with 2 K over 7 IP to drop his ERA to 2.25. RP Evan Engelbrook picked up the loss to drop to 0-2.

The teams are set for a Saturday twinbill. Billy Buckner pitches game 1 for Wichita vs. righty Jimmy Barthmaier and lefty Jason Cromer is set to start game 2 versus an undetermined Hooks pitcher.

A great 1st inning got the Blue Rocks a win in their home opener over the Avalanche. The Rocks loaded the bases with none out off SP Brian Bogusevic in the 1st and scored a run on a Salem error, a bases loaded walk by Kiel Thibault after another Avalanche error, a 2-run Cody Clark error and RBI single by Valentino Arce. Wilmington starter Julio Pimentel balked home a run in the 2nd and wild-pitched one home in the 3rd along with an RBI single to cut the Rocks' lead to 5-3. The Rocks stranded 2 in both the 2nd and 3rd and Pimentel and Justin Barnes held the Avalanche in check the rest of the way to nail down the win. Wilmington is 4-5 and 3 games back of Potomac. Salem CF Josh Flores was 2-4 with his 6th SB to move to .429, RF Eli Iorg (Garth's son) was 1-4 with his 3rd RBI and 5th SB to move to .273 and Bogusevic took the loss with 5 R (only 1 ER thanks to 3 errors) on 6 hits and 5 walks with 5 Ks over 4 IP to drop to 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA.

Game 2 is Saturday night. Pitchers: rightys Patrick Green (0-0, 2.25) and Michael Penn (1-0, 0.00) will throw for Wilmington vs. Salem righty Brad James (1-0, 0.00).

Angelo Morales was shutdown for his 2nd win as the Bees came off a weather layoff by beating the Chiefs. Morales faced one more than the minimum over 7 IP and was perfect through 4. The Bees scored on a Joe Dickerson sac fly in the 4th and got an insurance run on a Matt Morizio sac fly in the 9th. Morales and RP Brent Fisher survived jams caused by 2 errors behind them and Fisher K'd 2 in the 9th in getting his 1st save of the season. The Bees are 3-2 and 1 1/2 games back of first. 3B Josh Lansford was 1-4 to move to .190 and SP Jose Pina took the loss with an ER on 3 hits and 3 walks over 4 IP to drop to 0-1 with a 1.80 ERA.

The short 2-game set ends tonight. Pitchers: LH Everett Teaford (0-0, 0.00) vs. Chiefs RH Rafael Dolis (1-0, 0.00). Dolis already shut down Burlington once.
