A 4-run inning put the win on ice for Omaha Saturday. Starter Ben Hendrickson gave up a single and RBI double with 1 out in the 1st to give Albuquerque a 1-0 lead. Omaha came back with runs in the 1st on a Graham Koonce double play ball and a Mike Aviles RBI single to make it 2-1 O-Royals. The big inning came in the 4th when Aviles led off with a single, Fernando Cortez followed with a 2-run jack for his 1st of the season and runs came later on a Shane Costa single and a wild pitch by Isotopes RP Rich Dorman to make it 6-1 Omaha. Roberto Giron relieved Hendrickson in the 6th and allowed only 1 hit over the last 3 1/3 innings to end it. Omaha is 3-7 and 2 1/2 games out of a 3-team logjam at first. Isotopes SS Robert Andino was 2-4 to move to .171 and LF John Gall was 1-4 with his 4th double and 8th RBI to move to .417. Albuquerque SP Ricardo Rodriguez took the loss with 5 ER over 3 1/3 IP to drop to 0-1 with an 8.64 ERA.

Game 3 of the series is today. Pitchers: Isotopes LH Chris George (1-0, 3.48) vs. RH Brian Bannister (1-1, 2.31). 1B Justin Huber and SS Angel Berroa were supposed to return to the lineup today.

A big Hooks 4th helped them snap a 6-game skid in the opener of 2 with Wichita Saturday. Billy Buckner gave up a solo homer to 1B Neil Sellers in the 1st and the Wranglers blew a bases loaded, 1 out situation in the 4th. Corpus Christi scored 4 in the 4th on a leadoff homer, an RBI force out made into a 2-run play by an Irving Falu error and an RBI double. Falu hit a force out that scored a run in the 5th with a Hooks error but Cody Smith gave up a run in the 5th to make it 6-1. Craig Brazell led off the 6th with a double and scored on a Hooks error to close the gap to 4 runs but the Wranglers went down in order in the 7th to end it. Four Hooks had 2 hits, including Sellers, who was 2-4 with his 2nd homer and 4th RBI. Hooks SP Jimmy Barthmaier got the win with 6 IP of 2 UER on 7 hits and 4 walks to move to 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA.

RP Arthur Santos couldn't hold a late lead as the Hooks swept the doubleheader. Craig Brazell led off the 2nd with his 4th homer of the season and Wichita took a 1-0 lead. Wichita loaded the bases with no outs in the 3rd and a Chris Lubanski ground out scored a run to make it 2-0. Wichita SP Jason Cromer gave up his only run allowed in the bottom of the 3rd on an RBI single but got some good fortune when Lubanski doubled a runner off second to end the rally. Santos came in for the 6th and had the Hooks down to their last out in the 7th when a double and then a clutch RBI single by Tim Raines Jr. tied the game. The Wranglers loaded the bases in the 8th but Ed Lucas struck out to end the threat. Santos gave up a walk, double and intentional walk to load the bases and the winning run came home for the Hooks on a sac fly. Wichita is 5-4 and 1 game up on first. Raines was 3-4 with his 3rd RBI to move to .222 and RP Jeff Wigdahl got the win despite 3 BB in his IP to move to 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA.

A 3-game set at the San Antonio Missions (6-3, AA Pads) starts today. Lefty Mike Connolly starts the game for Wichita vs. Missions lefty Sean Thompson. The Wranglers are 2-1 against the Missions on the season.

A 3-run 4th was all Salem needed to get the win over the Blue Rocks to even the series at 1 game each. The Avalanche loaded the bases with none out against SP Patrick Green in the 4th and a throwing error by Josh Johnson on a pop out allowed a run to score with 2 outs. A 2-run single followed to chase Green and Michael Penn got the last out. Valentino Arce hit an RBI force out in the 5th but Penn allowed a triple and sac fly to start the 7th and make it 4-1 Salem. Mario Lisson hit an RBI ground out in the 8th but a Miguel Vega K stranded 2 in the inning. Salem got an insurance run in the 9th on an RBI triple off David Humen and Wilmington went down 1-2-3 in the 9th. Wilmington is 4-6 and 3 1/2 games out. Three players had 2 hits for Salem, including 2B Wladimir Sutil, who was 2-4 with 2 RBI and his first error to move to .174. CF Josh Flores was 1-3 with his 1st triple to move to .419 and SP Brad James got the win with an UER on 3 hits and 2 BB with 6 K over 7 IP to move to 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA. Samuel Gervacio also picked up his 1st save on the season.

Two 4-run innings and a batch of walks got the job done for Burlington as they swept the 2-game set vs. Peoria. SP Everett Teaford gave up a 1-out triple and 2-out wild pitch to score a run for the Chiefs in the 1st. Burlington struck in the 3rd with a 2-run homer by Alvi Morel (his 1st), an RBI double by Marc Maddox and a wild pitch scored Maddox later in the inning to make it 4-1 Bees. Teaford gave up an RBI double and sac fly in the bottom of the 3rd to close the gap to 4-3 but the Bees got some cushion in the 6th. Jeremy Jirschele hit a 2-out single that scored a run thanks to a Chief error, the Bees loaded the bases and then Chris McConnell scored on a bases loaded walk from RP Jeremy Papelbon and RP Julio Castillo came in and threw 2 wild pitches to score 2 more runs to make it 8-3. Peoria added a run off RP Shawn Hayes in the 7th and got a solo homer off RP Yovany D'Amico in the 9th to close it to 8-5 before D'Amico closed the door. Burlington is 5-2 and 1 game back of Clinton. Peoria RF Andrew Lopez was 2-4 with his 2nd double, 1st triple, 2nd RBI and 2 RS to move to .200. DH D.J. Lewis was 1-3 with his 1st homer of the season and 4th RBI to move to .176 and SP Rafael Dolis took the loss with 4 ER on 5 hits and 2 BB over 4 IP to drop to 1-1 with a 4.00 ERA.

The Bees were set for a Sunday doubleheader vs. the Kane County Cougars (1-6, A Athletics). Pitchers: Mario Santiago (0-1, 3.60) in game 1 for the Bees and LH Matt Campbell (0-0, 0.00) in game 2. The Bees are 2-0 versus Kane County thus far.
