*** Tyler Lumsden was fairly solid but got no run support from his offensive brethren and Fresno shut out Omaha for the second time in 2 days after giving up 13 runs Saturday. Fresno got the first run with 3 singles off Lumsden to start the bottom of the 2nd. A walk and double in the 3rd brought another Grizzly home to make it 2-0. Fresno stranded 2 in the 4th and Omaha mustered only 2 singles and a walk off Fresno SP Matt Palmer through 6. Mike Aviles and Shane Costa led off the 7th with singles but Costa was ejected for an unexplained reason after the single. Ryan Shealy lined into a double play and Matt Tupman struck out to kill the rally. With a man on second and 0 out in the 8th, 3 straight Royals K'd and they went down in order in the 9th as Alex Hinshaw marked his 5th save for Fresno and dropped his ERA to 0.71. Palmer allowed 5 hits, a walk and 9 Ks over 8 IP to improve to 2-3 with a 5.26 ERA. LF Brian Horwitz was 3-3 with his 9th RBI to move to .312.

Omaha is 15-14 and 2.5 games up on first. A 4-game home set versus the Portland Beavers (15-14, AAA Padres) starts tonight. Probable starters: Omaha RH Enrique Gonzalez (0-1, 4.09) vs. Portland RH Matt Wright (0-1, 5.16). Portland's roster features Friars prospects 3B/OF Chase Headley (.751 OPS in 28 games), 2B Matt Antonelli (.665 OPS, 5 E in 25 games), lefty Wade LeBlanc (2-2, 8.58, 1.87 WHIP in 6 starts), C Nick Hundley (.668 OPS, 4 HR in 19 games) and righty Josh Geer (2-2, 3.97, 1.21 WHIP in 6 starts).

*** Each team blew a 1-run lead before the Naturals got the last run in the 8th to get the win. Starter Carlos Rosa gave up a 2-out solo homer in the 1st to spot the Drillers a 1-0 lead and stranded the bases full in the 4th. Brian McFall tied the game with a sac fly in the bottom of the 4th and an Angel Sanchez RBI single in the 5th gave NWA a 2-1 lead. Greg Atencio relieved Rosa for the 6th and gave up a 1-out triple and single to retie the game. Atencio loaded the bases with 1 out in the 7th but got out of the jam with a double play ball. The Naturals got a leadoff single from Jose Duarte in the 8th and, with 2 out and 2 on, Mario Lisson hit a clutch RBI single but Juan Richardson was nailed at third to stem the rally. The lead was intact, tho, and Chris Hayes stranded a Driller at second in the 9th for his 1st save of the season. Tulsa SP Alan Johnson took the loss with 7 1/3 IP of 3 ER on 7 hits, 3 walks and a K to drop to 1-4 with a 4.85 ERA. SS Chris Nelson was 3-4 with his 2nd homer and 18th RBI with his 3rd SB to improve to .258.

NWA moved to 15-16. The series wrapped up today and the Naturals came away with the sweep as Kyle Crist got the win.

*** The Rocks recovered from a 3-run Salem 2nd to win the opener v. the Avalanche. Starter Jason Godin gave up 3 runs on 3 hits, walk and wild pitch but a Derrick Robinson OF assist helped cut the rally short. Joe Dickerson led off the Wilmington 2nd with a double and scored on a passed ball but the Rocks left the bases loaded. Godin stranded 2 in the 3rd and a Wilver Perez RBI single cut the lead to 1 in the 4th. The Rocks nailed a runner trying to steal home in the top of the 5th then surged ahead with 4 runs in the bottom of the 5th on a 2-run single by Kurt Mertins, an error by Salem C Koby Clemens that scored Mertins and a Miguel Vega RBI double to make it 6-3. Tyler Chambliss came in with 2 on and 1 out in the 8th and gave up a sac fly to cut the lead to 2 but stranded 1 in the 9th for his 5th save. Salem's David Qualben took the loss with 4 2/3 IP of 6 runs (2 ER) on 6 hits, 3 walks and 5 Ks to fall to 1-4 with a 6.52 ERA. DH James Van Ostrand was 3-3 with a HBP and RS to move to .278 and 1B Mark Ori was 2-4 with a walk and 2 RS to move to .314. Salem had 4 errors in the loss.

The Rocks are 13-17 and 6.5 games back. The series continues tonight. Probable starters: Rocks righty Blake Wood (1-1, 3.86) v. Salem southpaw Polin Trinidad (2-1, 2.43).

*** The Bees had a 3-0 lead in the 6th before the Wizards turned the tables to get a comeback win. Starter Joe Augustine left the bases loaded in the 1st and the Bees took the lead in the 3rd as Ryan Eigsti hit a 2-out double and scored on an Adrian Ortiz single although Ortiz was nailed at second to end the inning. With 2 out and runners at the corners in the 4th, Mike Moustakas and Jamar Walton pulled off the double steal and Moustakas swiped home to make it 2-0 Bees. Moustakas came back up in the 6th and cranked his 3rd homer of the season to make it 3-0. An error by 1B Antonio Jimenez allowed the Wizards' first run to score in the 6th and a groundout scored a second run off Augustine to cut the lead to 3-2. With 2 out and a man on second in the Wizards 8th, Matt Mitchell got a would-be inning ending K but a passed ball on Eigsti kept the rally alive. A single tied the game and another single gave Fort Wayne a 4-3 lead. The last 10 Bees went down in order after Moustakas' homer. RP Wynn Pelzer got the win with 3 hitless IP with 1 K to move to 2-1 with a 4.43 ERA. Starter Robert Woodard allowed 3 runs (2 ER) on 4 hits and 3 Ks to move his ERA to 3.95. LF Yefri Carvajal was 1-4 with the GW RBI (9) to move to .208.

Burlington is 12-17 and 9.5 games back. Game 2 is tonight. Starters were Bees SP Alex Caldera and Wizards SP Allen Harrington.
