Snyder 4 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 0 BB, 3 K -- SV, 1, 3.43 ERA

*** Omaha's offense switched on in the 5th and the O-Royals gained a game on Nashville with the victory. The Isotopes got a run off Bernero in the 2nd thanks in part to an Aviles throwing error and 2 more in the 4th to take a 3-0 lead. Omaha got hits in the first few innings but no runs until the 5th when Guiel knocked home 2 runs with a double and Allen singled him home to tie the game at 3. The O-Royals moved ahead in the 6th on consecutive doubles by Ambres and Aviles and the slugging percentages climbed in the 8th as Aviles sandwiched a sac fly between triples by Ambres and Blanco and Phillips clubbed a 2-run homer to give Omaha a 7-3 lead. Huber went solo to lead off the 9th for his 7th longball of the season and Snyder shut the Isotopes down from the 6th on to pick up the save out of the 'pen. Omaha rapped out 18 hits in the win. The O-Royals are 13-10 and 2 1/2 games back of Nashville for first. Albuquerque RF Mark Little was 0-3 to drop to .308, 1B Jason Stokes was 0-2 to drop to .309, LF Mike Kinkade was 3-4 to improve to .312 and IF Jason Wood was 2-4 to bump his BA to .325.

The teams knock heads again tonight. Pitchers: Omaha RH Brian Bass (1-2, 4.50) vs. LH Renyel Pinto (2-0, 1.75). Since Luke Hudson was DFA'd Monday to make room for Andrade on the big league roster, he may be in Omaha soon.

AA - Wichita: Frisco 5, Wranglers 1

3B Gordon 1-4, K -- .323
RF Butler 0-3, BB, K -- .303
LF Lubanski 0-3, BB, 3 K -- .270, triple sombrero

C. Smith and Nunez 3 IP scoreless relief

*** The Wranglers got 4-hit by 3 Frisco pitchers led by SP Joselo Diaz. Frisco started the scoring in the 3rd as a throwing error by C Damaso Espino allowed the run to score on a steal attempt. Wichita had no problem drawing walks with 6 in the game but couldn't hit the way out of a wet paper sack Monday. A Sanchez fielding error kickstarted a Frisco 5th-inning rally that was good for 4 Rough Rider runs as DH Kevin Richardson cranked a 3-run homer to give Frisco a 5-0 lead. Wichita only had 2 hits into the 8th when Brown broke the scoring silence for Wichita with an RBI double but that was all Wichita could get. The Wranglers' 4th loss in a row dropped them to 7-17 and 8 games out of first. Diaz improved to 2-0 with a 1.54 ERA for Frisco, 1B Jim Fasano was 3-4 to move to .444 and Richardson was 2-4 to move to .259.

Game 2 of the series is tonight. No announced starters once more.

DeHoyos IP, 0 ER, H, 0 BB, 2 K -- SV, 5, 0.84 ERA

*** Two innings of offense were enough for High Desert in the narrow victory. Bakersfield took the lead in the top of the 1st off Crist but the Mavs passed them in the 4th with 3 runs on a 2-run bases-loaded single by Wilver Perez followed by an RBI single by SS Irving Falu for a 3-1 HD lead. Crist gave up a 2nd run in the 5th and Plummer gave up a walk and homer to the first two batters he faced in the 6th to blow the lead. 4-3 Blaze was the score to start the bottom of the 8th when Donachie singled, Senreiso came through with an RBI triple to tie the game and Lucas put the Mavericks in front with an RBI single. DeHoyos gave up a 2-out double in the 9th but then struck out 2B Micah Furtado to end it. The Mavs are 14-11 and once again atop the division by 1/2 a game. Furtado was 1-4 to drop to .314, RF Steve Murphy was 2-4 to move to .309 and 1B Phillip Hawke was 0-4 to drop to .467. Two other Blaze players are hitting over .350.

Game 2 is tonight. Pitchers: HD RH Billy Buckner vs. Bakersfield RH Doug Mathis.

Low-A - Burlington: Dayton 13, Bees 5 (game 1)

3B Lisson 1-4, HR (3), RBI (19), K, E (4) -- .219
SS McConnell 1-3, 2B, BB, 2 RBI (6), E (6) -- .147
1B Vega 2-3, HR (3), RBI (9), K, E (4) -- .177
DH Thibault 0-3, BB, K, RBI (13) -- .278

Rosa 2 2/3 IP, 8 R (3 ER), 4 H, 4 BB, 3 K -- L, 1-3, 3.04 ERA, looks like a great defensive showing behind him
Penn IP, 0 ER, 0 H, BB, 2 K -- 0.00 ERA, Burlington debut
Henninger 2 IP, 4 ER, 6 H, BB, 3 K -- 4.57 ERA, not an outing to remember

*** Two errors helped Dayton to a 9-run 3rd as Burlington dropped the first of two Monday with the Dragons. The Bees struck first on Vega's solo homer in the 2nd but a Lisson fielding error helped Dayton score its first run in the 3rd and things fell apart from there. Rosa managed to get the second out but gave up 7 runs in the inning before being relieved by RP Chris Hayes, who gave up another run after a Vega fielding error gave the Dragons yet another out. The Bees drew closer in the 5th as McConnell hit a 2-run double and Thibault hit an RBI ground out to cut the lead to 9-4. Dayton responded by getting 4 runs over the next 2 innings off Henninger to put the game further away. Lisson hit a hollow homer in the 7th as the game was shortened by 2 innings for the doubleheader and that was it. The Bees dropped to 9-15. Dayton 2B Michael Griffin was 3-5 to move to .333, SS Paul Janish was 1-5 to drop to .373 and Reds hot prospect and '05 first rounder DH Jay Bruce was 0-4 to drop to .264.

Dayton 2, Bees 0 (game 2)

RF Arroyo 2-3 -- .239
3B Lisson 0-3 -- .211
C Thibault 0-2, BB, 2 K -- .270
LF Santana 1-2, outfield assist -- .282

Nicoll 5 1/3 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 2 BB, 8 K, HRA -- L, 1-2, 2.35 ERA, like the K total, tho

*** The good news was Dayton didn't score double figures in the night cap of the doubleheader. The bad news was the Bees didn't score any as Nicoll took the hard-luck loss on one swing of the bat by Bruce -- a 2-run homer in the 1st. Burlington managed only 3 hits in dropping to 9-16. They're 5 games back of first. Dragons SP Carlos Fisher went 5 1/3 IP giving up only 2 hits but 4 walks to move to 3-1 with a 3.00 ERA. Bruce was 3-4 with a double along with the homer to improve to .286. Griffin was 1-4 to drop to .330.

The teams are already in the first game of today's twinbill and Burlington is down again. Pitchers for the Bees are RH Matt Kniginyzky (2-1, 2.90) in game one and Rayner Oliveros (2-1, 2.53) in game two.
