Colorado Springs tied the game in the 5th on a 2-run homer off Yarnall but Gotay tripled home a run in the 7th followed by an RBI single by DH Alejandro Prieto for a 4-2 Omaha lead. *** Wichita came back from a 6-0 deficit and capped it off with 3 in the bottom of the 9th to get the victory. Fielding errors by Sanchez and Lubanski along with 3 walks, a bases-loaded double and two RBI singles helped the Cards build a 6-0 lead but Lubanski atoned on the play that included his error by throwing a runner out at the plate via relay man Donnie Murphy. The score remained 6-0 in the 5th when Maier led off with a double and was singled home by Murphy. A fly into a force out by DH Adam Keim brought another run home, a Lubanski ground out brought a third run home and an RBI single by Sanchez made the score 6-4 but Sanchez was cut down at second trying to stretch the hit. The Wranglers entered the bottom of the 9th down, 6-4, and Maier homered to lead off the inning and cut the lead to 1. With 2 out and the bases loaded, Springfield RP Mark Worrell Jr. walked Sanchez and Gordon to bring the tying and winning runs home and give Wichita the win. Wichita was 15-22 after the game and riding a 3-game win streak. The loss was Worrell's 2nd blown save. Springfield DH Juan Richardson was 2-3 with 3 RBI to improve to .361 and C Iker Franco was 0-3 to drop to .302.
The teams wrapped up the series with a game this morning and Wichita moved to 16-22 with a 11-5 win. They're now out of the cellar with a 4-game win streak rolling and 6 games back of Springfield. Report on that one in the next RoF.
