The teams combined for six multiple-run half-innings as Omaha came out ahead in a slugfest. 1B Craig Brazell started the game with a fielding error and Fresno took advantage with a 3-run inning off SP Zach Day on 2 doubles and a walk. Omaha shrugged it off to put up 4 in the bottom of the 1st as Brazell atoned with an RBI double, Mitch Maier started his day with a 2-run triple and Jorge Padilla hit a sac fly. Day gave up 2 more doubles in the 3rd as Fresno pushed the tying run across. Omaha again fought back as Fernando Cortez led off the Omaha 3rd with a triple, scored on a Mike Aviles single and then Brazell hit a 2-run homer (his 2nd at AAA) to make it 7-4 Omaha. RP Nate Hoelscher came in for the 5th and ran into big trouble in the 6th. With 2 on and 2 out in the top of the frame, Hoelscher gave up 2 doubles for 3 runs and an RBI single to give Fresno an 8-7 lead. Two more Fresno RBI doubles in the 7th off Hoelscher and Ken Ray made it 10-7 Fresno. The O-Royals didn't let up, however, as they tied it in their half of the 7th on a 2-run error by Fresno RF Nate Schierholtz and a bases-loaded walk by Matt Tupman. Ray pitched a perfect 8th and Aviles hit a clutch 2-out RBI double to bring Cortez home to give Omaha the 11-10 lead. RP Ryan Braun gave up a 2-out walk but nailed down his 2nd save. SP Luke Hochevar gave up a 2-out homer in the bottom of the 1st to RF Joe Gaetti but held the Drillers from further damage until the 5th, when he gave up a leadoff homer to 1B Duke Sardinha to cut the lead to 4-2. Wichita went scoreless after the 1st and Tulsa finally turned on the offense in the 7th.
