A bullpen implosion cost Omaha a 4-run lead in the 9th as New Orleans stormed back to take game 3 of the set. Omaha starter Zach Day gave up a 2-out RBI single in the 1st but Omaha surged ahead with 4 in the 3rd on a 2-out rally of a Joey Gathright walk and steal, a Fernando Cortez RBI single, Billy Butler walk and 3-run homer by Craig Brazell for his 5th at AAA to make it 4-1 O-Royals. Andres Blanco's 6th error of the season led to an unearned run off Day in the 3rd but Omaha struck back in the 6th with 3 runs on a Jorge Padilla RBI ground out and 2-run Gathright single to make it 7-2 Omaha. RP Thad Markray gave up 2 runs on 3 hits in the bottom of the 6th but Butler cranked his 8th homer to lead off the 7th and make it 8-4 O-Royals. RP Billy Buckner took that lead into the 9th but gave up a 1-out, 3-run homer to Zephyrs DH Ricky Ledee to cut the lead to 1 before getting pulled for Neal Musser with another runner on. Musser gave up 3 straight singles to tie the game and a would-be winning run was thrown out at the plate by LF Mitch Maier to salvage the game for the time being. Omaha stranded the lead run at third in the 11th and Roberto Giron came out for the bottom of the inning, only to give up a 2-out walkoff solo blast to SS Anderson Hernandez to end the game. Omaha is 19-23 and 4 games back. NO RF Jesus Feliciano was 4-5 with his 3rd double and 2 RBI (4) to move to .314, Ledee was 2-5 with his 5th homer, 3 RBI (25) and 2 RS to move to .252 and Hernandez was 3-7 with his 2nd homer and 2 RBI (15) along with 2 RS to move to .246. Omaha roughed starter Philip Humber up for 4 ER on 4 hits and 3 walks with 3 Ks over 5 IP to bump his ERA to 5.49 and Zephyrs RP Eddie Camacho got the win with 2 scoreless IP to move to 2-0 with a 4.72 ERA.
The series concludes this afternoon. Probable starters: Omaha RH Matt Wright (2-2, 4.50) vs. Zephyrs RH Jose Santiago (1-3, 7.29).

The Wranglers scored a run in each of the first 5 innings en route to the win over Arkansas. Jace Brewer hit a 1-out triple in the 1st and scored on a Chris Lubanski sac fly to make it 1-0 Wranglers. Damaso Espino stepped up and hit a 2-run double in the 2nd and Wichita scored 3 in the 3rd on a Jeff Eure 2-run single and RBI force out by Onil Joseph to make it 6-0. SP Carlos Rosa didn't give up a hit until the 4th and another Lubanski sac fly that inning made it 7-0. Joseph hit a 2-run homer in the 5th -- his 2nd of the season -- and the score was 9-0 Wichita as Rosa continued to cruise. The Travs finally got to him in the 6th with a walk, single and double to score a run and bring in Juan Cedeno, who allowed another run to score to cut it to 9-2. Cedeno gave up 2 runs in the 7th but Wichita got them back in the bottom of the inning on a wild pitch and then an RBI single by Irving Falu to make it 11-4. RP Cody Smith gave up a run in the 8th but Octavio Dotel set down the side without problems in the 9th to end it. Wichita is 21-22 and 1 1/2 games back. Travs 3B Freddy Sandoval was 1-2 with a sac fly and his 20th RBI to move to .316, DH Greg Porter was 0-3 with a sac fly and his 17th RBI to move to .241 and SS Sean Rodriguez was 1-4 with his 9th double, 6th error and a RS to move to .252. Starter Chris Saenz took the loss with 6 R (4 ER) on 6 hits and a walk over 2 1/3 IP to drop to 1-5 with a 9.64 ERA.
The series wraps today. Probable starters: Wichita lefty Dusty Hughes (1-2, 4.30) vs. Travs lefty Dan Davidson (2-4, 2.06, 0.96 WHIP). I guess Mike Stodolka is slowly working his way back into the lineup after suffering a concussion on a May 12 beanball.

A disastrous first 2 innings did in the Rocks as the Pelicans held on to win by 2. The Blue Rocks made 3 errors in the first and SP Blake Johnson gave up 2 runs on a triple by 2B Diory Hernandez to spot the Pelicans a 2-0 lead. Johnson didn't survive the 2nd as he allowed 6 runs on 7 hits (including 3 doubles) and Myrtle Beach jumped the lead to 8-0. Brian McFall led off the 2nd with his 1st homer of the season for the Blue Rocks and Wilmington began chipping into the lead. The Rocks scored 2 in the 3rd on a Jose Duarte RBI triple and Marc Maddox sac fly to cut it to 8-3 and another run in the 4th on a Pelicans wild pitch whittled it to 8-4. Pitchers Russ Haltiwanger and David Humen held the Pelicans in check through the 6th and Wilmington scored a run that inning on a Josh Johnson RBI single but stranded the bases loaded. Humen allowed a run in the 7th and RP Justin Barnes gave up a leadoff homer to RF Roberto Alvarez in the 8th as Myrtle Beach made it 10-5. Wilmington loaded the bases with 1 out in the 8th and a bases-loaded walk by Marc Maddox was followed by a 2-run single by Mario Lisson to cut it to 10-8. Unfortunately, the Rocks stranded 2 in the inning and got the tying run to the plate in the 9th but couldn't rally. Wilmington is 21-21 and 1 game back. The Blue Rocks are off today before starting a 3-game home set with the Potomac Nationals Monday.

The Bees held a 3-0 lead at one point but didn't hold it as South Bend locked up at least a split of the 4-game set. SP Harold Mozingo stranded 2 Silver Hawks in the 1st and the Bees scored 2 in their half of the inning on a Jeff Bianchi RBI single and Matt Morizio RBI ground out. The Bees loaded the bases with 1 out in the 2nd and a Bianchi force out brought a run home to make it 3-0 but the Bees left the bases full. South Bend finally got to Mozingo in the 3rd with 2 runs on 2 hits, a sac fly, walk and 2 wild pitches to cut it to 3-2. Mozingo gave up back-to-back jacks to 3B Steve Mena and SS Yunesky Sanchez to lead off the 4th and South Bend took the lead. Mena cranked another solo shot in the 5th off Mozingo and RP Aaron Hartsock gave up an RBI double as South Bend increased the lead to 6-3. South Bend starter Ed Romero retired 9 straight Bees into the 5th and a Bianchi error helped the Silver Hawks to an insurance run in the 7th. South Bend added another run off RP Tyler Chambliss in the 9th and the Bees stranded 2 in the bottom of the inning to end the game without a rally. Burlington is 16-23 and 9 games back.
