Justin Huber set off some fireworks in the 1st and the O-Royals got to Brewers top prospect SP Yovani Gallardo to get an easy win. With 1 out in the 1st, Gallardo loaded the bases and Huber stepped up and smoked a homer to center for a grand slam and a 4-0 Omaha lead. Matt Tupman hit a 2-out RBI double in the 3rd to make it 5-0 as Omaha starter Ben Hendrickson took a 1-hitter into the 6th. Huber led off the Omaha 5th with his 2nd homer of the game and 7th of the season and a Jace Brewer RBI single later in the frame made it 7-0. Hendrickson allowed an RBI single in the 7th before leaving with 2 out and 2 on. RPs Thad Markray and Neal Musser didn't falter in holding strong to lock down the win. Omaha is 31-29 and 5 1/2 games back. Gallardo took the loss with 4 1/3 IP of 6 ER on 6 hits, 6 walks and 3 Ks to drop to 8-2 with a 2.89 ERA.

The series goes to game 2 tonight. Probable starters: Sounds LH Zach Jackson (6-3, 5.07) vs. Omaha LH Tyler Lumsden (5-3, 5.17).

Wichita staked an early lead but Arkansas whittled it down before taking the game in the 9th. Chris Lubanski hit an RBI double in the 1st and scored on a Mike Stodolka single to make it 2-0 Wranglers. The Wranglers stranded 2 in the 2nd and Arkansas scored 1 that inning to cut the lead in half. Wichita appeared to have a shot at a rally in the 5th but Geraldo Valentin was thrown out at third to end the inning. Runners were thrown out at third and home in the Wichita 6th and the Wranglers squandered another chance. A 2-out double off SP Mike Connolly in the 6th tied the game for Arkansas and the game went to the bottom of the 9th tied at 2. With 1 out, RP Juan Cedeno gave up a walk and single before a double by CF Sean Rodriguez ended the game. Wichita is 23-36 and 7 1/2 games back, now in the cellar of the TL North. Rodriguez was 2-5 with his 12th double, 27th RBI and 2 OF assists at third to move to .260, LF Aaron Peel was 2-4 with his 12th double and 24th RBI to move to .249 and RP Bill Edwards got the win with a hitless 9th to move to 3-1 with a 4.03 ERA.

The series ends tonight. Probable starters: Wichita lefty Danny Christensen (1-4, 5.63) vs. Travelers hot prospect righty Nick Adenhart (4-2, 3.45).

The Warthogs took the opener versus the Blue Rocks. Jose Duarte led off the game with his 2nd triple of the season and scored on a Marc Maddox ground out to make it 1-0 in the 1st. Julio Pimentel gave up a solo homer to tie it in the 2nd and the Warthogs added 2 runs on 3 hits, a wild pitch and Rocks error in the 3rd to make it 3-1. Maddox hit another RBI ground out in the 5th to cut the lead to 1 but Winston-Salem got some insurance with 2 in the bottom of the inning on 2 hits and a sac fly. Wilmington left 2 in scoring position in the 6th, then left runners on the corners in the 7th and once again left 2 in scoring position in the 9th. Wilmington is 27-32 and still only 2 games back. Warthogs 1B Micah Schnurstein was 3-4 with his 26th double, 3rd triple, 40th RBI and 12th error to move to .313, C Cole Armstrong was 1-3 with his 6th error, 4th passed ball, 10th homer and 2 RBI (21) to move to .261 and LF Aaron Cunningham was 2-4 with his 36th RBI to move to .286. SP Clayton Richard got the win with 7 IP of 2 runs (1 ER) on 8 hits and 3 walks with 5 Ks to improve to 5-2 with a 2.95 ERA. RP John Wesley picked up his 2nd save.

The Rocks will try to snap their 5-game skid tonight versus the Warthogs in game 2. Probable starters: newest Blue Rock lefty Matt Campbell (4-2, 3.47 at Burlington) debuts vs. Warthogs southpaw Ryan Rodriguez (3-3, 4.70).

The Bees were down by 6 by the 4th and couldn't dig out of the hole in losing the opener with the Snappers. SP Everett Teaford gave up a 2-run homer as part of a 3-run Beloit 1st and a solo homer was part of a 2-run 3rd as the Snappers took a 5-0 lead. Beloit pushed another run across in the 4th to make it 6-0 before the Bees got on the scoreboard with 1 in the 5th on Jase Turner's solo homer for his 5th of the season. RP Aaron Hartsock came on for the 6th and allowed a 2-run homer along with 2 more runs in the 7th and it was 10-1. With 2 out in the 9th, a Snapper error kept the game alive and a wild pitch and 2-run homer by Mike Thompson (his 11th) made it 10-4 before Turner struck out looking to end the game.
Burlington is 25-34 and all but out of the first-half race. Beloit DH Wilson Ramos was 2-5 with 2 HR (2) and 4 RBI (6) to move to .278, CF Joe Benson was 2-4 with his 2nd homer and 2 RBI (14) to move to .200 and SP Jeff Manship got the win with 5 IP of an ER on 3 hits with 4 Ks to improve to 6-1 with a 1.52 ERA.

Game 2 of the set is tonight. Probable starters: Burlington's Mario Santiago (1-4, 2.81) vs. Beloit's Tyler Robertson (0-0, 1.29).
