Things looked good for Omaha early as the Royals scored 3 in the top of the 1st on RBI singles by Kila Ka'aihue, David Lough and Jordan Parraz. Hernandez never did pitch that great, tho, as the Isotopes answered with 4 in the 1st including a 3-run homer from RF Prentice Redman. Hernandez did throw a 1-2-3 2nd but then gave up back-to-back homers to DH Jay Gibbons and Redman in the 3rd to make it 7-3 Albuquerque. Jeff Howell hit an RBI double and Irving Falu singled him home to cut it to 7-5 in the 4th and Omaha left 2 in scoring position in the 5th. Kurt Mertins broke the stalemate with a 2-run triple in the 6th and scored on a Paulo Orlando single. Teaford lost the perfecto, the no-no and the shutout in the 6th as a 1-out triple and RBI single cut the lead to 3-1. Castaneda came on to strand 2 and the Hooks got the leadoff batter on in the 9th but Castaneda slammed the door for his 2nd save. RP Erick Abreu allowed 3 ER in 1/3 IP to take the loss. 2B Marcos Cabral had 2 hits for the Hooks. C Ben Theriot was brought up to shore up the catching corps as Ryan Eigsti was put on the DL with an arm fracture. Aaron Crow starts Monday's game for the Naturals. * Four Bees errors helped lead to 5 unearned runs as the Chiefs pounded Burlington. Hilton Richardson led off the game with a triple and scored on a Deivy Batista sac fly to give the Bees a 1-0 lead. Lamb pitched 3 scoreless innings but hit trouble in the 4th as he allowed a 2-out, 2-run double and RBI single to make it 3-0. The runs were unearned because of a Joey Lewis throwing error earlier in the inning on a pickoff play. Richardson hit a solo homer in the 6th for his 2nd of the season but the Chiefs got the run back off Dusty Odenbach in the bottom of the inning. Lewis clubbed his 4th homer of the season in the 7th to cut it to 4-3 but the Chiefs put the game away with 2 in the 7th off Sam Runion and then 4 more in the 8th off Runion.
