Royals on the Farm 9/11 -- Cougars done

Put me in the camp of people who can't believe it's already been 10 years since one horrible Tuesday. Thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of those killed in New York City, D.C. and Pennsylvania, and those who have lost their lives fighting the war on terror since that day. Rarely in my life have I felt as raw of emotions as I did around that time...I think it's silly to say "never forget" because if you were alive and cognizant on that day, how could you ever forget?

AAA - Omaha: off day

* Reno and Sacramento are headed to a cutthroat game 5 today, so the Chasers will know later who they'll face in Tuesday's game 1. The first 2 games are set for Omaha with games 3 (and 4 and 5, if necessary) at either the D-Backs or A's affiliate.

A - Kane County: Quad Cities 6, Cougars 5

C David 1-4, HR, RBI, 2 K, PB, RS -- .143
1B Kuebler 1-3, 3B, 2 RBI, K, RS -- .133
2B Franco 1-3, BB, HR (2), RBI (3), K, RS, CS -- .176
DH Espinal 0-2, SF, RBI, K -- .000
LF Fletcher 0-4, 2 K -- .105
3B Cuthbert 0-4, 3 K -- .211
CF Eibner 0-3, BB, 2 K, RS, SB -- .176

J. Mitchell 8 IP, 2 R (1 ER), 4 H, 9 K, WP -- 1.13 ERA
Boruff 1/3 IP, 2 ER, H, BB, WP -- 13.50 ERA
A. Cruz 0 IP, 2 ER, 2 H, HRA -- BS, 1, L, 0-1, 6.00 ERA, gave up walkoff 3-run homer

* Kane County snatched defeat from the jaws of victory as the 2011 season came to an abrupt end on Sunday. The Cougars had a 5-0 lead in the 8th with an eye on a Monday game 3, but it was not to be. Jason Mitchell had a great start, and got support from a 2nd inning solo homer by Kevin David and 3 runs in the 5th on a 2-run Jake Kuebler triple and Yowill Espinal sac fly. Angel Franco ripped a solo homer in the 8th for his 2nd of the playoffs and Mitchell had a 5-0 shutout going. An RBI double and run-scoring passed ball ended the shutout, but Chase Boruff was handed a 5-2 lead in the 9th. The Bandits had 1 out and a runner at third when Boruff allowed an RBI single and was yanked for Antonio Cruz. Cruz allowed a single, then served up a walkoff 3-run homer to CF Nicholas Longmire to end it.
