* Omaha made it another year with a team title in the Royals' minors as they swept the RiverCats in Sacramento in Friday. Mike Montgomery stranded 2 in the 1st but Manuel Pina and Lance Zawadzki hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the 2nd to take the lead. Omaha left the bases loaded in the 3rd and then added 4 runs in the 5th on a Kila Ka'aihue RBI single, Irving Falu RBI double and 2-run Zawadzki single to make it 6-0. Montgomery stranded 2 more in the 5th, then handed the ball to Kevin Pucetas in the 6th. David Lough clubbed a 2-run homer in the 6th to give Pucetas an 8-0 lead. Things got a little shaky from there as Pucetas gave up 3 runs before getting pulled. An error and Jarrod Dyson RBI single made it 10-3 in the 7th, and Zach Miner allowed 2 runs in the bottom of the inning to cut it to 10-5. Ka'aihue doubled in a run in the 8th to keep the pressure on, and Kelvin Herrera gave up a leadoff homer in the 9th before finishing it. The win puts Omaha in the AAA Championship Game Tuesday in Albuquerque versus the Columbus Clippers (AAA Indians). Luis Mendoza was named PCL Postseason MVP to finish a great season, which I assume will actually continue with an MLB start or two.

No concrete plans at this point on how to finish up the season, since I've done all the stat wraps. I'll probably file one more report Tuesday, then may add a top prospects list later. In any event, thanks for reading this season.
