*** Brian Buchanan's grand slam in the 7th helped Omaha get a chance at splitting the series with the Redbirds. Memphis scored a run on 2 hits and a walk off Dusty Hughes in the 1st but Omaha got a Ryan Shealy RBI single and Buchanan sac fly in their half of the frame to take a 2-1 lead. Three hits and a walk brought in 2 Memphis runs in the 2nd and 2 hits and a walk made it 4-2 Redbirds in the 4th. With 2 out and 2 on in the Omaha 4th, Chris Lubanski and Dave Matranga came up with back-to-back RBI singles to tie the game. Hughes gave up a solo homer in the 5th to give Memphis back the lead and 5-4 was the score going into the bottom of the 7th when relievers Ron Flores and John Wasdin loaded the bases with 1 out. Buchanan cranked his slam to left for his 6th of the season and it was 8-5 O-Royals. Yaz Yabuta let in a run in the 8th but pitched a perfect 9th to get his 1st AAA win. Flores took the loss with 2 ER in 1/3 of an inning to drop to 2-4 while Wasdin blew his 3rd save. Starter P.J. Walters allowed 4 ER over 6 IP. SS Brian Barden was 3-5 with a double, RBI and 2 RS.

*** Two innings of offense were enough for the Naturals in the win over San Antonio. With the bases loaded and 2 outs in the 1st, Blake Johnson served up a 3-run double and the Missions jumped out to a 3-0 lead. The Naturals stranded 2 in the 2nd and the Missions tacked on a run in the 3rd on 3 hits. NWA got back in the game in the 4th with 3 runs on an Irving Falu RBI forceout and 2-run, bases loaded single by Jose Duarte to cut it to 4-3. The Naturals left the bases full, however. In the 5th they struck again as Kila Kaaihue led off with his 20th homer of the season to tie it and NWA scored 4 more runs in the frame on a Falu RBI single, Duarte RBI forceout and 2-run single by Marc Maddox that was aided by a Missions error. Chris Hayes left the bases loaded in the 7th but Kyle Crist pitched 2 quiet innings to get Johnson his 7th win of the season. RP Mike Ekstrom took the loss for the Missions with 5 runs (1 ER) over 3 1/3 IP to drop to 3-6. Starter Will Inman lasted only 3 2/3 IP and allowed 3 unearned runs. Three Missions had 2-hit games and DH Seth Johnston plated 4 RBI.

NWA is 6-9 and 2.5 games back. A 3-game home set with the Corpus Christi Hooks (, AA 'Stros) starts today. Dan Cortes (3-3, 3.64) takes the mound for NWA in the opener. The Nats are 5-4 versus the Hooks, but swept the last 3-game set last week in Corpus Christi.

Burlington stranded a baserunner here and there and the game went to the 7th still at 4-0. The 'Kings smoked 3 homers that inning off Joe Augustine to score 5 runs and then added a 3-run homer and an RBI double in the 8th after Mike Moustakas' 17th error to make it 13-0. Zach Evangelho hit an RBI groundout in the 8th but that was all the Bees could muster. Clinton SP Mike Kirkman allowed 6 hits over 7 IP to win and move to 2-0.
