C B. Pena 2-3, 2B (7), 2 RBI (11), K, CS -- .324
DH Buchanan 1-3, 2B (7), 3 RBI (27), K -- .287
CF Maier 2-3, K, 2 RS, SB (10) -- .310
RF Costa 1-2, BB, 2 RS, SB (11) -- .301
1B Shealy 0-2, BB, K, RS -- .281
SS Sanchez 0-3, 2 K -- .216
LF Lubanski 0-2, 2 K -- .243

Rosa 6 2/3 IP, ER, 8 H, BB, 2 K, WP -- W, 4-2, 4.32 ERA, like to see more Ks but he's still effective
Lowery 1/3 IP, K -- 1.82 ERA

*** A 3-run 1st was all Carlos Rosa needed in terms of run support as Omaha took the first of two with the Sounds Tuesday. With 2 out and the bases loaded in the 1st, Brian Buchanan cleared the bases with a clutch double (even tho it was the 1st, clutch is clutch) to make it 3-0 Omaha. The Sounds had no extra base hits in the game and Rosa shut them out until they scratched out a run in the 5th to cut it to 3-1. Brayan Pena got the run back plus interest with a 2-run single in the bottom of the 5th and Rosa and Devon Lowery closed it out. Starter Steve Hammond took the loss for Nashville with 3 ER over 3 IP to fall to 0-3. LF Hernan Iribarren and RF Brendan Katin had 2-hit games for Nashville.

Nashville 3, O-Royals 1 (1-hitter, 7/G2)

CF Maier 1-3, HR (7), RBI (33), K, RS, E (3) -- .310, only thing between Royals and no-no
RF Costa 0-3, K -- .298
SS Sanchez 0-2, K -- .205
1B Stodolka 0-1, BB -- .230

Lumsden 4 IP, 3 R (2 ER), 6 H, BB, K -- L, 3-9, 6.97 ERA
Yabuta 3 IP, 2 H, 2 K -- 3.65 ERA, nice outing, 48 pitches

*** A 1st inning homer by Mitch Maier and 3rd inning walk by Mike Stodolka were the only 2 things separating Sounds starter Lindsay Gulin from a 7-inning perfect game as Nashville got a 3-run 1st to win the nightcap. Starter Tyler Lumsden gave up 3 early runs on 3 hits, a walk and Maier error in center but Maier tried to atone with his 7th homer for a solo shot in the bottom of the 1st. Gulin retired the last 14 after Stodolka's walk to win his 5th game of the season with an ER over 7 IP. CF Tony Gwynn Jr. and 3B Adam Heether had 2-hit games for the Sounds and Heether had 2 RBI (31).

Omaha is 43-48. The series is continuing with a matinee today as Brandon Duckworth started for Omaha. The O-Royals lead the league with 111 double plays turned.

*** The Naturals answered a 4-run Hooks 1st with 5 runs of their own and moved on to roll past Corpus Christi to sweep the 3-game set. Julio Pimentel had another shaky outing, especially in the 1st as the Hooks got their 4 runs on 5 hits, including 3 doubles. Irving Falu hit a 1-out RBI single in the Nats 1st and Kila Kaaihue started a big night personally with a 2-run homer for his 21st of the season. Later in the inning, Ed Lucas smoked a 2-run homer for his 1st of the season to make it 5-4 Naturals. Lucas singled in another run in the 3rd and NWA scored 4 in the 4th on a 2-run Juan Richardson single, another Lucas RBI single and a wild pitch that scored Richardson to make it 10-4. Pimentel settled down to sit down 12 of the last 13 Hooks he faced and the Naturals added another 4 runs in the 5th on a 1-out grand slam by Kaaihue for his 22nd homer of the season and 2nd of the game. Things got chippy that inning as Richardson was hit by a pitch and Hooks P Sam Gervacio and manager Luis Pujols were ejected. Gilbert de la Vara and Kyle Crist allowed 3 runs in the 7th but the Nats polished off their night with 2 in the bottom of the inning on a 2-run Hooks error. Greg Atencio and Chris Hayes gave up 2 runs in the 8th and Hayes allowed another run in the 9th but the Naturals won what turned out to be a football game score, 16-10. Hooks SP Chance Douglass allowed 6 ER over 3 IP to fall to 4-7. RF Jarred Ball was 3-4 with a walk, double, 3 RBI and 2 RS with his 5th SB and 2 other Hooks had 3-hit games. Another had a 2-hit game.

The Naturals are 9-9 and 2.5 games back. NW Arkansas has today off to hit the road.
