Royals on the Farm 7/11

Craig Brazell did the Royals proud with a homer in the 4th but it came in a losing effort for the PCL. The O-Royals got back into action tonight and the game is being shown on RSTN. Starters were Omaha's Matt Wright and Iowa's Rocky Cherry. IF Fernando Cortez will most likely return to Omaha after getting DFA'd by KC Wednesday for the signing of IF Jason Smith.

A 4-run inning spurred the Wranglers on to a losing-streak snapping win Wednesday. A double followed by a passed ball on Adam Donachie helped the Cardinals take a 1-0 lead in the 1st. Both teams squandered scoring chances before Wichita broke through in the 3rd with 4 runs on RBI singles by Mike Stodolka, Jorge Padilla, Kila Kaaihue and a sac fly by Jeff Nettles. The Cardinals scratched out another run in the 6th off SP Greg Atencio but that was all the starter allowed. Stodolka singled home a run in the 7th to put some padding in the lead. Jarod Plummer stranded 1 in both the 8th and 9th in notching his 8th save. Cards C Bryan Anderson was 2-4 to move to .320 and SP Adam Daniels took the loss with 6 IP of 4 ER on 6 hits, 2 walks and 3 Ks to drop to 3-2 with a 3.26 ERA.

Wichita is 7-12 and 6 games back. The series continues tonight. Starters were Springfield righty Mitch Boggs (8-3, 3.83) and Wichita righty Carlos Rosa (3-6, 5.43).

The Blue Rocks slapped together a 5-run inning to give Julio Pimentel the support he needed for his 6th win. The Nats took a 1-0 lead with a solo homer by DH Devin Ivany in the 2nd, but Brad McCann was hit by a pitch with 1 out in the 4th and scored on a Brian McFall double for the Rocks' first run and also their first hit of the game. In the 5th, Chris McConnell doubled home a run, Marc Maddox tripled home 2 runs, Mario Lisson singled Maddox home and Brian McFall doubled home Lisson to make it 6-1 Rocks. Pimentel stranded 2 in the 6th and Arthur Santos got out of a bases-loaded, no out jam in the 8th. Ivany was 1-4 with his 2nd homer and 4th RBI to move to .321 and Nats SP Cory VanAllen took the loss with 4 1/3 IP of 5 ER on 4 hits, 2 BB and 7 Ks to drop to 1-3 with a 7.03 ERA.

Wilmington improved to 14-5. The series continued tonight with a Rocks loss. Tyler Chambliss got the start and the loss. As noted, OF Jeremy Cleveland joined the Rocks roster to replace OF Wilver Perez, who is out for the season after tearing his ACL and miniscus in one knee July 1. Cleveland started the season with the Padres organization and hit .250 with 0 HR and 8 RBI in 28 games with the AA San Antonio Missions before getting released. 1B Miguel Vega reportedly left Wednesday's game with a shoulder injury after getting picked off.

The Bees get back into action Friday with a series at the Great Lakes Loons.

Like organizational big brothers Wichita and Wilmington, Idaho Falls also took care of business thanks to a big inning to stay on a roll. The Chukars jumped ahead in the 1st as a Helena error allowed Devery Van De Keere to score from first on an O.D. Gonzalez single. SP John Leonard gave up a homer to LF Kurt Crowell in the 2nd to tie the game. Clint Robinson led off the 4th with his 5th homer of the season and Ryan Eigsti added a 2-run shot later in the inning for his 1st pro homer before Manni Juan singled home a run to make it 5-1 IF. The Chukars stranded 2 in the 7th and the Brewers pushed across another run in the 8th on 2 hits off RP Joe Hughes. Nick Van Stratten slammed a 2-run homer in the 8th for his 2nd of the season and that polished off the 7-2 win. Crowell was 2-4 for the Brewers with his 2nd homer and 11th RBI to move to .356 and SP Jose Garcia took the loss with 4 IP of 5 runs (4 ER) on 7 hits, 2 BB and 6 Ks to drop to 3-1 with a 5.14 ERA.

IF is 16-6 and 4 games up on first. The series continued tonight. Ben Norton got the start for Idaho Falls.

The Royals blew a 3-run lead in the 9th but won in 13. SP Brian Gausman gave up a solo homer in the 1st but Wilson Tucker hit a sac fly in the Royals 1st to tie the game. Gausman gave up another solo shot in the 4th and the Royals again responded with 4 runs on a Sox error, a Patrick Norris RBI force out and RBI singles by Alwin Perez and Brett Amyx to make it 5-2. RP Alex Caldera gave up a homer in the 6th to cut the lead to 2 but Burlington got the run back in the 7th on a wild pitch that scored Tucker. RP Ryan Woods came in with 2 in scoring position and 2 out in the 9th and gave up a 2-run double and RBI single to tie the game for his 2nd blown save. The Royals left the winning run at third in the 9th and the game went to the 13th tied at 6 before a 2-out Tucker single put runners at first and third and Antonio Jimenez hit an RBI single to end it. Bristol RF Jose Martinez was 2-5 with 2 homers (5) and 2 RBI (22) to move to .382 and RP Luis Guzman took the loss with 1 2/3 IP of an ER on 2 hits, 2 walks and 2 Ks to drop to 0-2 with a 7.47 ERA.

Burlington moved to 12-8. The series continued tonight with another Burlington win.

The Royals lost to the Rangers today.
