Omaha staged a comeback to get the game to extras and finally rallied to win it in the 15th for a 3rd straight 1-run victory over Iowa. The I-Cubs scored 1 run in each inning from the 2nd to the 5th on 3 solo homers and a 2-hit rally off SP Billy Buckner. While the Cubs stranded 6 over the first 5 innings, the Royals were being no-hit by J.R. Mathes through 4 perfect IP. That changed in the 5th as Omaha scored 2 runs on sacrifice flies by Richie Lewis and Chris Lubanski after loading the bases with no outs. Rocky Cherry took the mound for the Cubs in the 6th and Craig Brazell hammered a 2-out, 2-run homer to tie the game. Ken Ray stranded 2 in both the 8th and 9th and the Royals stranded 2 in the 12th. Jason Shiell took over in the 13th and, with RP Geoffrey Jones on the mound for Iowa in the 15th, Lubanski, Derek Wathan and Mitch Maier singled to load the bases with no out. Mike Aviles ended it with a 1-out RBI single after 4 1/2 hours of game play. Cubs DH Josh Kroeger was 4-6 with his 16th RBI to move to .321, CF Felix Pie was 2-5 with his 4th homer and 25th RBI to move to .378 and Jones took the loss with 2 1/3 IP of an ER on 4 hits and 2 Ks to drop to 0-2 with a 4.72 ERA. The Cubs stranded 15 in the game.

Omaha is 45-49. The series wraps this afternoon. Probable starters: Iowa's Randy Wells (4-4, 4.73) vs. Omaha RH Luke Hochevar (making AAA debut). The 15-inning game Saturday marked Omaha's longest game since August 2003. Manager Mike Jirschele didn't see most of it as he was ejected in the 4th after the Cubs' 3rd homer of the game.With lefty John Bale finally seeing live action in the KC bullpen, Neal Musser will rejoin the O-Royals.

The Wranglers took the lead in the 5th and put the Cardinals away in the 6th to split the 4-gamer. The Cardinals scored in the 1st off Dusty Hughes but Wichita tied it in the bottom of the 1st on a solo homer by Mike Stodolka for his 10th of the season. Three Hughes wild pitches in the 4th helped Springfield take a 2-1 lead but Stodolka hit a 2-run double in the 5th to give Wichita the lead at 3-2. The Wranglers turned up the offense in the 6th with 5 runs on an RBI double by Adam Greenberg, a Geraldo Valentin RBI single, a 2-run single by Jorge Padilla and a Jeff Nettles sac fly that made it 8-2. The bullpen took it from there to close out the win. Cards C Bryan Anderson was 2-4 with his 6th error to move to .325 and SP Cory Rauschenberger took the loss with 5 IP of 3 ER on 8 hits and 2 walks to drop to 7-6 with a 5.42 ERA.

Wichita is 8-14 and 7 games back. A 4-game home set versus the Arkansas Travelers (10-12, AA Halos) starts this afternoon. No announced starters on the team site. Wichita is 9-12 versus the Travs.

Wilmington tried to come back late but couldn't get over the top as Potomac split the series. The Nats scored first in the 2nd on 2 hits, a Brad McCann error and sac fly to put Rowdy Hardy behind. Kiel Thibault singled home McCann in the bottom of the inning but the Rocks left the bases full. Potomac scored twice in the 3rd off Hardy on 2 hit batsmen and 2 singles to take a 3-1 lead. Two hits, a walk and sac fly in the 5th expanded the Nats' lead to 5-1 off Hardy. The Rocks got those runs back in their half of the 5th on a Mario Lisson sac fly and McCann RBI single. The Rocks again left the bases full and the 5-3 score remained until the 8th. Brett Bigler doubled home a run that inning and Marc Maddox drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game. RP Arthur Santos gave up a run in the 9th but Wilmington evened the score again with a 2-out solo homer by Miguel Vega off RP Adam Carr in the bottom of the 9th for Vega's 5th longball of the season. A single, 2 Santos wild pitches and a sac fly gave the Nats took a 7-6 lead and the Rocks left a runner on base as RP Clint Everts picked up his 1st save for Potomac. Nats C Devin Ivany was 2-3 with 3 RBI (8) to move to .382 and, despite blowing a save for the
3rd time, Carr got the win with an IP of an ER on a hit and K to improve to 2-1 with a 2.29 ERA.

Wilmington is 15-7 and 3 games up on first. The Rocks have today off. Manager John Mizerock was ejected in the 2nd inning of Saturday's loss.

The Bees blew a 5-run lead but won in 11. Burlington scored 5 runs in the 1st on RBI singles by Joe Dickerson and Brady Everett and a 3-run homer by Jeff Bianchi for his 1st of the season. The Bees stranded 2 in the inning. Starter Mario Santiago gave up 2 runs in the 2nd on a leadoff homer by DH Josh Bell and a single aided by an error by Derrick Robinson that helped cut it to 5-2. Santiago gave up a 2-run homer to 1B James Peterson in the 4th and the lead was down to 1. The game became tied in the 7th when Santiago gave up a solo homer to C Juan Apodaca that brought Ryan DiPietro into the game for the Bees. Great Lakes tried to win it in the bottom of the 9th as the Loons put 2 on with 1 out and, with 2 out, the Loons tried a double steal of second and home only to get the runner thrown out at the plate. Both teams stranded 2 in the 10th and Felix Peralta came through with a 2-out RBI single in the 11th to give the Bees a 6-5 lead. RP Chris Hayes stranded 1 in the 11th for his 7th save. Peterson was 2-3 for the Loons with his 3rd homer and 2 RBI (21) to move to .307 and RP Miguel Sanfler took the loss with an IP of an ER on 2 hits, a walk and K to drop to 2-3 with a 5.29 ERA. The Bees smacked Dodgers' prospect Clayton Kershaw around for 5 ER over 5 IP to move his ERA to 2.55.

Missoula had 4 hits and 6 errors in a runaway Chukars win to open the series. The Osprey made 2 errors in the 1st but the Chukars stranded both runners. IF SP Burke Baldwin gave up a run in the 2nd on 2 doubles but it was all Chukars thereafter. Idaho Falls scored 6 runs in the 2nd off SP Cristian Beltre on an Anthony Seratelli RBI double, RBI singles by Adrian Ortiz and Devery Van De Keere, an O.D. Gonzalez RBI double and 2-run double by Clint Robinson that made it 6-1. The Osprey didn't have a hit after the 4th and Idaho Falls scored again in the 6th on a wild pitch that scored Ortiz. The Chukars left the bases loaded that inning but scored 3 runs in the 7th on a double by Ryan Eigsti that scored 2 runs thanks to an Osprey error, and an Ortiz RBI single that made it 10-1. Missoula 1B Jose Dijol was 1-3 with his 1st double and 4th RBI to move to .091 and Beltre got the loss with 4 IP of 6 runs (2 ER) on 6 hits, a walk and K to drop to 1-2 with a 5.63 ERA.

A Jose Santos grand slam in the 5th provided the margin of victory as the Royals doubled the Twins' season losses in a span of 2 days. Starter Henry Arias allowed a run on 2 hits and a walk in the 3rd but the Royals tied the game that inning on a Patrick Norris triple and Alwin Perez RBI ground out. The Twins stranded 2 in the 5th and the Royals moved ahead with 5 runs in their half on a Jake Lane RBI single and Santos' grand slam to left for his 4th homer of the season to make it 6-1 Burlington. Jose Diaz and Jimmy Rollins gave up solo homers to the first batters they faced in the 6th and 7th as the Twins trimmed it to 3. Rollins stranded 2 in the 7th and the Royals got some insurance with 2 runs in the bottom of the inning on a 2-out, 2-run single by Kyle Martin. RP Ryan Woods allowed a run on 2 hits and a hit batsman in the 9th but closed it out. Twins RF Rene Tosoni was 2-2 with his 4th double, 10th RBI and 7th SB to move to .275, SS Starling De Los Santos was 2-5 with his 6th double, 2 SB (10) and his 10th error to improve to .350 and starter Michael Tarsi took the loss with 4 IP of 5 ER on 7 hits, 2 walks and 3 Ks to drop to 2-1 with a 3.18 ERA.

The Royals scored 8 runs in the 10th to win. The Royals stranded 2 in the 1st and the Athletics jumped on starter Williams Farinas for runs in the 1st and 2nd on a combined walk and 3 hits to take a 2-0 lead. The Royals stranded 2 more in the 4th but tied it in the 5th on a 2-run double by Justin Huber. The A's took the lead off Matt Mitchell in the 7th but the Royals again tied it in the 8th on a bases-loaded walk by Astin Jacobo. The game went to the 10th before the Royals rallied for 8 runs on a Salvador Perez RBI single, 2-run single by Vinny Pennell, a wild pitch that scored Pennell, a 3-run homer by Huber for his 2nd in his rehab stint and a double-play ball by Ryan Angel that made it 11-3. Ryan Belanger stranded 2 in the 10th to finish it. A's C Ben Barrone was 2-3 with his 1st double and 2 PB (3) to move to .273 and RP Keith Eusebio took the loss with 1 1/3 IP of 5 runs (4 ER) on 4 hits, 2 walks and 2 Ks to drop to 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA.
