Royals on the Farm 7/3

AAA: Five Omaha pitchers held Albuquerque to 5 hits in a 2-0 Omaha win Sunday. Omaha scored in the 3rd and 4th on an RBI single by 2B Denny Hocking and a solo homer by 3B Chris Truby (his 9th). SP Denny Bautista went 3 innings and allowed 2 hits but 0 ER to drop his AAA ERA to 2.70. RP Shane Nance got the win with 3 IP of 2 hits and 2 BB with 2 Ks to move to 2-2 with a 3.38 ERA. RP Jaime Cerda got his 3rd hold with 1 1/3 IP of hitless relief to lower his ERA to 8.27. RP Justin Huisman also got his 3rd hold with 2/3 hitless IP to drop his ERA to 3.86. RP Santiago Ramirez got his 4th save with 1 IP of 1 hit to drop his ERA to 6.12. CF Adrian Brown was 2-4 with a triple to improve to .266 and LF Cory Aldridge was 0-3 to drop to .351. Three other Royals had a hit each.

Omaha is 39-45 and 7 games back of first. The O-Royals travel to Memphis (41-42) to start a 4-game set tonight. Pitching matchup: RH Shawn Camp (2-5, 4.70) vs. Redbirds RH Mark Nussbeck (2-3, 3.31).

AA: Wichita's Sunday game against Springfield was rained out and will be made up in August. Wichita is 5-4 and in first by a game. LHP Brian Anderson was set to go in his first rehab start tonight for the Wranglers.

High-A: High Desert's series with Lake Elsinore ended on a sour note as the Mavs were shut out, 7-0, Sunday on a 4-hitter by the Storm's Jared Wells. SP Cesar Herrera went 5 2/3 IP and gave up 4 R (3 ER) on 9 hits and 2 BB with 2 Ks to pick up the loss and move to 4-4 with a 5.85 ERA. RP Drew Endicott went 3 innings and allowed 3 ER on 5 hits and a BB with 2 Ks to move his ERA to 4.86. RP Nate Moore pitched 1/3 of an inning and K'd 1 to drop his ERA to 4.96. LF Billy Butler was 0-4 to drop to .355; 2B Adam Keim was 1-4 with a double to drop to .301; and 3B Brandon Powell was 1-3 to improve to .306.

High Desert is 5-5 and a game back of first. The Mavs headed to play Inland Empire, which has owned High Desert this season, for four games starting today.

Low-A: Burlington got smoked by Peoria Sunday, 12-3, to split the 4-game set. The Bees scored first, in the 2nd, with a run on an RBI force out by LF Darwinson Salazar but it was all Chiefs from then on. The Bees' final 2 runs came in the 7th on RBI singles by C Damaso Espino and 1B Rusty Brown. SP Patrick Green went 5 innings and allowed 5 R (1 ER) on 9 hits and a BB with 4 Ks to lower his ERA to 4.66 and pick up the L to drop to 3-7. RP Yovany Damico went 1 1/3 IP and allowed 6 ER on 3 hits and 3 BB to bump his ERA to 5.31. RP Justin Sherman went 1 2/3 IP and gave up 1 ER on 2 hits and a BB with a K to make his ERA 1.75. Espino was 2-5 with an RBI to improve to .249; Brown was 3-5 with a double and RBI to improve to .283; and 2B Eddie Solis was 2-4 to up his BA to .175. SS Irving Falu singled to up his hitting streak to 21 games and also made his 10th error. The Bees left 12 on base.

Burlington is 4-7 and 4 games back of first. RH Patrick Hicklen (4-3, 3.72) started for the Bees in tonight's series opener with South Bend (8-3). It's a 4-game set. In other Bees news, utility guy Pete Maestrales was called up to High Desert.

Rookie: Idaho Falls took advantage of a wild pitch in the 10th to pull out a 7-6 win over Orem Sunday. Orem had a 4-0 lead in the 2nd when the Chukars scored 2 on a 2-run triple by C Kiel Thibault. The Chukars tied the game in the 5th with runs on an RBI single by SS Christopher McConnell and a sac fly by 3B Shawn Hayes. Orem scored 2 in the 7th to regain the lead only to see Idaho Falls tie it in the 8th on a 2-run single by LF Antonio Sabatini. The game stayed scoreless into the 10th when 2B Gary Perez hit a leadoff single. He was sacrificed to second by Thibault and moved to third on a Sabatini ground out. CF Ethien Santana came up and struck out swinging but the third-strike pitch was wild and Santana beat the throw to first while Perez scored. SP Michael Penn went 5 innings and gave up 4 ER on 6 hits and a BB with 6 Ks to make his ERA 4.05. RP Mitch Goins pitched 3 innings and allowed 2 ER on 5 hits with 1 K to make his ERA 10.03. RP Jacob Eckley went 2 innings and allowed 1 hit with 2 Ks but got the win to move to 1-1 with a 4.26 ERA. Santana was 2-6 with a double to drop to .389; McConnell was 1-4 with a walk and RBI to drop to .340; DH Felix Peguero was 2-5 with a double to improve to .293; 1B Jase Turner was 2-4 with a BB to improve to .281; Perez was 2-4 with 3 RS to improve to .233; Thibault was 2-2 with a triple and 2 RBI to improve to .316; and Sabatini was 1-5 with 2 RBI to drop to .382.

Idaho Falls is 6-7 and 3 games back of Ogden.

The ASL Royals won their 6th straight with a 17-9 win over the A's Sunday. The Royals scored 2 in the 3rd on a 2-run homer by SS Jeff Bianchi (his 4th pro shot) and added 3 in the 4th on a 2-run single by C Ross Boudreaux and a sac fly by 2B Joshua Johnson. Three more runs scored in the 5th on a 3-run double by LF Jose Duarte and 7 scored in the 6th on a solo shot by 1B Willie Matos (his 1st), three fielding errors, two wild pitches and a Matos RBI single. The final runs scored in the 7th and 8th on an RBI single by SS Pedro Lopez and an RBI triple by Johnson. SP Juan Abreu got the win with 5 1/3 IP of 1 UER on 4 hits and 2 BB with 4 Ks to move to 1-0 with a 3.48 ERA. RP Drew Coffey went 1 2/3 IP and gave up 2 ER on 4 hits with 1 K to move his ERA to 15.00. RP Nelson Trifolio went an inning and gave up 2 ER on 2 hits and 2 BB with a K to make his ERA 6.35. RP Enrique Barrera also went an inning and gave up 4 R (3 ER) on 4 hits with 1 K to move his ERA to 17.47. The offensive stars of the game were pretty much everyone. Bianchi moved his BA to .514, CF Joseph Dickerson is up to .417; and Duarte and DH Felix Peralta are both up to .409. Check the box here:
