*** The Royals' bullpen faltered and Omaha dropped another game. Howell and Rick Helling dueled until Shane Loux took over for Omaha in the 5th. Nashville loaded the bases with 1 out in the 6th and Loux got the second out before RP Donovan Osborne came in and gave up a grand slam to the first batter he faced -- Sounds 1B Graham Koonce. Musser 7 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 3 BB, 9 K -- W, 2-0, 0.90 ERA
Markray IP, ER, H, WP -- 2.23 ERA
*** The Wranglers unleashed a 17-hit assault on Arkansas in crushing the Travs. Meanwhile, Musser led the way to a 5-hitter on Arkansas. Lubanski started the scoring with a 2-run homer in the 3rd -- his 5th. The lead stayed a narrow 2 until the 6th when the Wranglers scored 4 on a Butler solo homer (#10 for him), a bases loaded walk by Brett Groves and a 2-run single by Maier to blow the game open. Cota 3 1/3 IP, 8 ER, 8 H, 3 BB, 2 K, 2 HRA, WP -- ND, 6.91 ERA, so much for that scoreless streak
Barnes, Rowe and Atencio -- 5 2/3 scoreless IP, 4 H, BB, 7 K -- Atencio, W, 1-0, 8.10 ERA
*** The 1 and 2 batters in the Mavs lineup -- Falu and Perez -- led a comeback from a 1st inning 5-0 deficit to help High Desert win its 6th straight. The Quakes torched Cota with a 5-run 2-out rally in the 1st that included back-to-back homers. Perez homered in the bottom of the 1st to get the Mavs on the scoreboard and then singled Falu home in the 3rd to cut the lead to 3. Things looked grim after RC had a 3-run 4th to make the score 8-2 but Falu got the Mavs back in the game with 1 swing of the bat in the 4th as he came up with 2 out and the bases loaded and hit a grand slam for his 2nd homer of '06 to cut the lead to 2. The Quakes clung to the lead into the bottom of the 8th when High Desert got RBI singles from Falu and Perez to tie the game. After Atencio cruised through the top of the 9th, Stodolka led off the bottom of the frame with a double, was sacrificed to third and then scored on a sac fly by McFall to win the game. High Desert is 36-31 and 1 1/2 games back of first with 3 games left in the half. RC SS Sean Rodriguez was 3-5 with his 12th homer and 37th and 38th RBI to move to .297, 3B Freddy Sandoval was 1-4 to move to .304 and C Michael Collins was 2-5 with 3 RBI (40) to move to .300.

SS McConnell 0-4, 2 K, E (13) -- .159
Rosa 7 1/3 IP, UER, 3 H, 3 BB, K -- W, 6-3, 2.57 ERA
Schambough 1 2/3 IP, 2 K -- SV, 6, 1.31 ERA
*** A 4-run 1st looked to set up good things for the Bees but that was all the scoring offense the Bees got as Rosa threw another good game, despite the K/BB ratio. Arce and Everett hit back-to-back doubles and Vega hit a 2-run double before C Jeff Howell hit an RBI ground out to give Burlington the 4-0 lead. Rosa gave up a 2nd inning run but held strong over the rest of his outing. Schambough did the rest from the 8th on to get his 6th save. Burlington moved to 33-31. Clinton RF and one of the top '05 picks, John Mayberry Jr., was 0-4 to drop to .229.
The series continued Friday night. David Henninger got the start.
