Costa tripled to lead off the game and was driven home on a 2-out single by Allen to put Omaha ahead early but Bautista gave up a 2-run homer in the 1st to make the lead short-lived. A 2-run triple in the 3rd extended Iowa's lead to 3 and Bautista was pulled with the bases juiced and 0 out in the 4th. With 2 out and the bases loaded in the 3rd, Butler cleared the bases with his 20th double and the lead became 4-0. Musser coasted through 6 innings before giving up a run in the 7th and being pulled in favor of RP Cody Smith. The Wranglers matched the run that inning on a Lubanski RBI double to make the score 5-1 and RPs Chris Booker and Braun finished the game. *** The Whitecaps scored 7 runs in the first 4 innings off Rosa to end the pitcher's 5-game win streak and start the Bees' second half on a sour note. Rosa gave up a 2-out, 2-run double in the 1st to put the Bees down early but Burlington got 1 run back in the 1st on a fielding error on a ball hit by Kyle Thibault that scored Lisson. West Michigan added single runs in the 2nd and 3rd and then 3 in the 4th thanks in part to errors by Lisson and Everett. Everett fell down later in the inning trying to chase down a fly ball and dislocated his shoulder as a run scored to give the Whitecaps a 7-1 lead. Jeff Howell singled home a run for Burlington in the 4th and another run scored on a WM error to cut the lead to 4. The Bees cut further into the lead in the 5th as Lisson stole third and scored on a throwing error. That was all the Bees could muster, tho, as the Whitecaps added some insurance in the 7th. Burlington is 0-1. Whitecaps CF Cameron Maybin was 0-4 to drop to .306, DH Michael Hernandez was 3-5 with his 4th homer and 2 RBI to move to .324 and LF Pedro Cotto was 1-4 with 2 RBI to drop to .300.

A Gutierrez throwing error helped the Rockies tie the game in the bottom of the 3rd and Casper moved ahead with 2 runs off Gutierrez in the 5th before Dan Best came in to relieve. Best allowed only 2 hits over the remainder of the game and the Chukar offense came back to life in the 6th with 6 runs on a wild pitch after a double steal, an RBI force out by SS Eduardo Nunez, a Hayes RBI single, a Castillo RBI single, a passed ball and another wild pitch to take a 9-5 lead.
