Christensen gave up 2 runs in the 4th and another in the 5th and the Mavs scattered their 4 hits over 4 innings and never seriously threatened. High Desert is 0-1 in the second half in the weird situation where IE was playing its final first-half game and HD its first second-half game. Rohrbaugh K'd 10 in moving to 7-1 with a 1.46 ERA. IE 2B Yung-Chi Chen was 1-4 to drop to .327, 3B Matt Tuiasosopo was 1-3 with his 33rd RBI to move to .307 and RF Mike Wilson was 1-4 to drop to .311.
The loss snapped a 9-game win streak and set up Tuesday's winner-take-all game with IE for the first-half title, as the tiebreaker sets forth the first second-half game between the two determines the champ. Luis Cota pitches for HD, so the Mavs need him on top of his game.
