Royals 8, Twins 5

What is this? Jose Lima actually pitches well enough not to lose and the offense actually gives the pitchers some insurance and beats the Twins. Lima started shaky by giving up a homer to Nick Punto in the 1st but KC came right back with 2 runs to take the lead and built a 4-1 lead before Lima gave up a couple runs on some singles in the 4th, but then Joe Mauer helped him out by overrunning second and screwing up the Twins rally with the meat of the order up. This is usually where the Royals end up caving and screwing up. As it is, they pushed across 4 in the 7th before Mike Wood gave up a couple runs in the 9th but the bullpen couldn't screw this up. Berroa had another great game with a 4-5 effort and Stairs and DeJesus had 2-hit games. Graffanino had a big 3 RBIs to once again do his part. Affeldt and Gobble did their jobs out of the pen as Gobble K'd Mauer after an 11-pitch AB with the tying run in scoring position in the 7th and 2 out. Affeldt took Jonah Bayliss' place on the roster as Jonah was sent to Omaha after pitching all right for the big league team. Within two weeks when Affeldt likely goes down again, I bet he'll be back up.

Tomorrow night it's Zack Greinke v Brad Radke in game 2. Another one that looks shaky going into it but we'll have to wait and see.

As a side note, spent some time today surfing around and added some links on the left. Couple blogs, couple other things.

Thanks. It took a few days of working on it off and on to get it done. The Rookie teams are the hardest.
