May 2 IP, 3 R (2 ER), 5 H, HRA -- 9.00 ERA, yes that's catcher Lucas

* Omaha fought back to tie it in the 6th, then gave up 8 late runs, again, to Vegas. Vin Mazzaro's return to Omaha was mediocre as he gave up a 2-run homer before getting an out. Omaha stranded 2 in the 2nd and Vegas scored again in the 3rd to make it 3-0. Irving Falu was thrown out at the plate as Omaha was kept off the board in the 4th. Lucas May broke the ice with his 1st homer of the season in the 5th and a 2-out Mike Moustakas RBI double cut it to 3-2. A run-scoring error tied the game in the 6th, but Blaine Hardy got knocked around for 5 runs on 4 hits and 2 walks in the 7th. May switched sides of the battery to pitch in the 8th and gave up a 2-run homer. Lorenzo Cain went deep for his 3rd homer of the season in the 8th but May gave up another run in the 9th. Falu hit an RBI triple, scored on a wild pitch and Joaquin Arias doubled in a run to cut it to 11-7, but a Paulo Orlando flyout ended the game. CF DeWayne Wise had 4 hits and was a HR short of the cycle, scored 4 runs and stole his 6th base and had an assist at home to improve to .383. Four other 51s had 2 hits, including 3B Brett Lawrie, who had 2 HR (11) and 4 RBI (37) with 2 E (11) to move to .346. Omaha is 23-20 but still on top of a mediocre division. A 4-game home set with the Tucson Padres (18-25) starts Monday. Kevin Pucetas (3-1, 4.26) is set to start. By the way, the Storm Chasers stranded 1 in the 10th to drop Saturday's game by that 8-6 count at which I left the game, so good riddance to the 51s.

Myrtle Beach's only run came on 3 hits in the 2nd off Arguelles. Carlo Testa tied it with an RBI double in the 3rd but was thrown out at the plate on a Rey Navarro single to end the inning. Mariot came in with 2 on and 2 out in the 6th and got out of the jam. The game was still tied at 1 with 2 out and none on in the Wilmington 8th.
