* Omaha turned on the offense in the 6th to come back and get Danny Duffy another win. Duffy got hit for 3 runs in the 2nd as a 2-run longball helped the Isotopes take a 3-0 lead. An error by former Royals farmhand Corey Smith helped the Nats in the 6th as Eric Hosmer walked and Mike Moustakas reached on the error. Clint Robinson followed by clubbing his 8th homer of the season to tie the game. Duffy allowed the go-ahead run in the bottom of the inning but David Lough tied it with an RBI double in the 7th and Hosmer continued his strong play with a 2-run homer (his 3rd) to make it 6-4 Chasers. Lough hit an RBI single his next time up in the 8th and Everett Teaford allowed a run in the 8th, but Jesse Chavez stranded 1 in the 9th for his 3rd save. LF Trent Oeltjen had 2 hits, including his 3rd triple and 5th homer, and 3 RBI (17), and C A.J. Ellis also had 2 hits. Omaha is 15-10. Game 3 is Wednesday night. Mike Montgomery (1-1, 2.67) is set to start.

* Chris Dwyer and the Naturals lost a lead in the middle innings and never got it back. Christian Colon hit an RBI single before NWA left 'em loaded in the 3rd and Kurt Mertins hit a 2-out RBI double in the 4th to make it 2-0 Nats. Dwyer had a scoreless start going in the 5th when a couple runs were followed by a 3-run homer that ended Dwyer's night down, 5-2. Edgar Osuna allowed a run in the 7th but the Naturals bounced back with 2 runs on a Colon RBI single and another run that scored before Colon was run down. The Cards polished it off with 3 in the 9th off Buddy Baumann. Salvador Perez scored on a wild pitch in the 9th but that was as close as NWA would get. Four Cards had 2 hits as RF Matt Adams hit his 6th homer with 3 RBI (21). NWA is 11-10. Game 2 is a Wednesday day game. John Lamb (0-1, 3.86) will start. OF Derrick Robinson was put on the DL with a groin injury as C Ryan Eigsti rejoined the roster.

* The Rocks were held to 4 hits and Lynchburg scored 6 late runs to run away with it. The Hillcats stranded 2 in the 2nd but nicked Tyler Sample for a run in the 3rd and then churned out 4 runs on 2 walks and 3 hits in the 4th. The Rocks stranded 2 in the 5th but Tim Ferguson tripled and scored on a Rey Navarro groundout in the 6th. Justin Marks pitched 2 solid innings but fell apart in the 8th as the Hillcats cranked 2 homers in a 6-run rally. Hillcats SP Willie Kempf allowed an ER on 3 hits and a walk with 7 K over 7 IP to improve to 2-1 with a 7.11 ERA. RF Adam Milligan had 4 hits including his 7th double and 5th HR with 2 RBI (8). Three others had multiple hits. The Rocks are 15-9 but still in command in the Carolina League North, as they're the only team over .500 in the division. The series wraps up Wednesday night as Jake Odorizzi (1-0, 2.25) starts.

* The Cougars came close to being shutout and had as many errors as hits (4). Greg Billo stranded 2 in the 3rd, then was pulled with 2 on and 2 out in the 6th, but Nick Wooley got out of the inning. The problem was only 1 Cougar had reached base thru 5. KC stranded 2 in the 6th and Wooley hit 2 batters in the 7th as the Kernels finally pushed a run across the plate. Wooley unraveled a little bit in the 8th as a wild pitch and throwing error scored the first of 3 runs in the inning for Cedar Rapids. Chase Boruff allowed 2 more runs in the 9th, and KC was within an out of being shutout when Ryan Jenkins hit an RBI double. KC stranded 2. Kernels SP Max Russell allowed 2 hits and a walk with 5 Ks over 7 IP to improve to 2-2 with a 3.48 ERA. Three Kernels had 2 hits. KC is 8-18. A 3-game start with the Quad Cities River Bandits (11-13, A Cardinals). Leonel Santiago (2-2, 3.90) starts for KC.
