* Omaha jumped on the RedHawks early and kept pounding away for a 10-2 win in support of Danny Duffy. Mike Moustakas got it started with an RBI single in the 1st and, after 2 walks loaded the bases, Lorenzo Cain ripped a 3-run double and Lance Zawadzki doubled Cain home to make it 5-0. Duffy gave up a 2-run homer in the 2nd but would strap it down from there. Two RedHawk errors helped Omaha score twice in the 5th and the Chasers went to work again in the 6th as Moustakas hit an RBI single and Clint Robinson singled home 2 runs to make it 10-2. All that was left was 3 solid innings out of the Omaha pen and it was lights out. 1B Brian Dopirak was 1-3 with his 4th homer and 2 RBI (9). Omaha is 18-12. Game 4 is a Monday matinee. Mike Montgomery starts. RP Steven Shell was released and RP Blake Johnson was called up from AA. OF Gregor Blanco has been shipped to the Nationals for a PTBNL.

* A slugfest ended with a Naturals KO on Sunday afternoon. Tulsa got to Chris Dwyer for a run on 2 hits in the 1st and it was a 1-0 game until the 4th. Salvador Perez tied it with an RBI single that inning and Mario Lisson cranked a 2-run homer for his 7th of the season to make it 3-1 NWA. Momentum swung back to the Drillers as they scored 5 in the 5th off Dwyer and Mario Santiago to make it 6-3 Tulsa. RP Keith Weiser entered the game in the 6th and the Naturals regained control. They loaded the bases with 0 outs and Kurt Mertins singled in a run, a wild pitch scored a run, Nick Van Stratten hit an RBI groundout, and Anthony Seratelli singled in 2 runs to make it 8-6 Nats. The lead didn't last half an inning as Santiago gave up a solo homer and another run before leaving the bases loaded. Patrick Keating came in and stranded the bases loaded in the 8th and Jamie Romak hit the go-ahead 2-out RBI single in the 8th to make it 9-8. For the second time in the last couple weeks, Salvador Perez caught a runner stealing at second to end the game. LF Scott Beerer had 3 hits, including his 5th homer, and 2 RBI (13) and CF Tim Wheeler had 2 hits for Tulsa. NW Arkansas is 13-13. Game 3 is Monday night. John Lamb (0-2, 3.22) starts. RP Eric Basurto was released. RP Kelvin Herrera is getting called up to take the roster spot left behind by Blake Johnson.

* The Rocks had to come back twice but a win wasn't in the cards Sunday. Justin Marks stranded 2 in the 1st but allowed a run on 2 hits in the 2nd. Carlo Testa doubled and scored on a Nick Francis groundout in the 4th but Marks allowed the go-ahead run in the bottom of the frame. John Whittleman tied it with a leadoff homer in the 7th for his 6th of the season. Tyler Sample took over in the 8th and neither team really threatened again until Sample left the bases full in the 12th. The Rocks loaded the bases with 1 out in the 13th but two forceouts kept them from scoring. Sample was pulled after giving up a leadoff double in the 13th and Manauris Baez issued two intentional walks to load the bases. The only problem was he issued one more with 2 outs to end the game. Keys SP Oliver Drake worked 6 IP of an ER on 7 hits with 6 K to make his ERA 1.14. CF Miguel Abreu and SS Garabez Rosa had 3 hits with 2B Mike Rooney rapping 2 hits. The Rocks are 16-13 after the sweep. They have Monday off.

* The 1-run blunders were at it again for Kane County. Peoria drew first blood off Greg Billo in the 3rd and a double play killed a Cougar rally in the 4th. The Chiefs added another run off Billo in the 4th and KC had another killer DP in the 5th. Gerard Hall led off the 6th with a triple and scored on a Ryan Jenkins groundout to cut the lead in half. Peoria helped ice it with 2 runs in the 8th off Dusty Odenbach and the Cougars went down in order in the 9th. Starter Su-Min Jung allowed an ER on 7 hits with 2 K over 6 1/3 IP to improve to 1-0 with a 0.87 ERA. 2B Pierre LePage had 2 hits and his 11th RBI. CF Matt Szczur was 1-4 with his 9th SB. KC is 9-22. The series ends Monday as Leonel Santiago (2-3, 3.63) starts.
