* Gaby Hernandez had his second straight solid start and the offense took care of the rest in the win. Omaha stranded the bases loaded in the 1st and 2 in the 2nd but finally broke the ice on a Kurt Mertins RBI double in the 3rd. The Zephyrs tied the game in their half but Omaha posted 3 in the 4th on a David Lough RBI groundout, Alex Gordon RBI double and Jordan Parraz RBI single. Former Royal Donnie Murphy hit a solo homer for NO in the 4th but Kila Ka'aihue took a bases-loaded walk before Omaha left 'em loaded again in the 5th. Jai Miller doubled, stole third and scored on a throwing error in the 6th, and after manager Mike Jirschele "managed" to get ejected with a 6-2 lead in the 7th, Gordon went solo for his 9th homer for Omaha to extend the lead. Lough hit a 2-run homer in the 9th for his 5th of the season to finish it. Starter Sean West pitched 1 2/3 shaky innings before getting pulled and RP Hunter Jones took the loss with 7 runs (6 ER) over 5 1/3 IP to fall to 0-4. Six Zephyrs had a hit each. The O-Royals are 28-22. Jorge Campillo starts Wednesday's game 2.

AA - NWA: off day

* The Naturals will try to avenge a sweep by the Frisco RoughRiders (30-20, AA Rangers) in the first of 3 at home Tuesday. Mario Santiago starts for NWA.

* John Lamb sparkled again as the Rocks evened the series with the K-Tribe. The game was quiet until Salvador Perez plated Eric Hosmer with an RBI groundout in the 4th. The lead lasted 1 batter into the bottom of the 4th as Lamb gave up a leadoff homer, but that was his only blemish. He stranded 2 in the 5th and the game stayed tied at 1 until Nick Francis blasted his 1st homer of the season to break the deadlock in the 8th. Rey Navarro added an RBI triple in the 9th and Barry Bowden came on with 2 on and 1 out in the 9th and gave up an RBI single before closing it out with the tying run 90 feet away from the plate. RP Travis Turek allowed 2 ER over 2 IP to fall to 2-2 for Kinston. Starter Joe Mahalic allowed an unearned run over 5 IP. CF Jordan Henry had 3 hits and 2 other Indians had 2 hits. The Rocks are 23-29. Jamie Romak was named CL Player of the Week after hitting 14-30 (.467) with 4 XBH and 6 RBI over the last week. Tim Melville starts Wednesday's series finale.

* The Bees scored 8 unanswered runs to take down the Whitecaps. Matt Mitchell had a tough 1st as West Michigan scored 3 runs on 3 hits and a walk. The Whitecaps scored another run in the 4th before leaving the bases full. Burlington roared back to tie it in the 6th on a run-scoring error, 2-run Hilton Richardson single and Deivy Batista RBI single as Richardson was nailed at the plate to end the rally. Ryan Dennick stranded 2 in the 8th and the Bees put it away with 4 in the 9th on a Joey Lewis RBI double, Juan Graterol RBI single and 2-run Ryan Wood single. Onassis Sirrett stranded 1 in the 9th to polish it off. Three Whitecaps had 2 hits and RP Jose Ortega allowed 4 ER over 1 2/3 IP to fall to 0-3. Starter Jacob Turner allowed 3 runs (1 ER) over 5 1/3 IP. The Bees are 18-34.
