* Former Royal Brian Lawrence stymied the Omaha bats as New Orleans got the win. Kurt Mertins popped his 2nd homer of the season for a solo shot in the 1st but the Zephyrs tied it in the 2nd off Anthony Lerew. Lerew pitched well before faltering in the 6th as the Zephyrs scored 3 runs off Lerew and Greg Holland. Omaha stranded 2 in the 7th but got a 2-run single from Scott Thorman in the 8th. Omaha stranded 1 in the 9th. Lawrence allowed an ER over 7 IP to improve to 4-4. Fish prospect 1B Logan Morrison had 2 hits. Omaha is 29-23. David Lough missed the game with an undisclosed injury. The Royals clamed righty Kanekoa Texeira off waivers from Seattle today and DFA'd Brad Thompson. Texeira had a 5-point ERA with the M's. As a Rule 5'er, he'll have to stick in KC. * It was a rough day for Bees pitchers as West Michigan routed Burlington. Burlington stranded 2 in the 3rd and the Whitecaps scored their first run of the game. They added 3 in the 4th off Tyler Sample on a 3-run homer that was really Sample's only big misstep other than 5 walks. Mitch Hodge had a nightmare 6th as he didn't get an out and, combined with Mike Lehmann, allowed 4 runs in the inning. Lehmann threw a run-scoring wild pitch in the 7th. Deivy Batista hit a sac fly in the 8th and Carlo Testa tripled and scored on a Rene Oriental groundout in the 9th but it was much too little, too late. Starter Trevor Feeney allowed an ER over 8 IP to improve to 6-3. 2B Jimmy Gulliver had 2 hits, including his 1st homer and 4 RBI (5) with 2 walks and 3 runs scored.
