Bowden 1/3 IP, ER, H, K, HRA -- L, 2-4, 2.02 ERA

* It was a bookend game as Winston-Salem scored in the 1st and 9th after the Rocks scored their only run in the 9th. Salvador Perez hit into a bases-loaded double play to stymie a 1st inning rally and Tim Melville got off to a bad start as the Dash scored a run but Nick Francis threw a runner out at the plate and Melville stranded the bases full. It was pretty cut-and-dried from there until Adrian Ortiz hit a clutch RBI single to tie it in the 9th. The Rocks stranded 2 in the inning and Barry Bowden gave up a 1-out walkoff homer in the bottom of the inning to RF Justin Greene (his 8th). RP Kyle Bellamy allowed an ER in 2 IP to blow his 1st save but pick up the win to move to 4-0. SP Nathan Jones pitched 5 scoreless frames. Three Dash batters had 2 hits led by Greene in the 9-slot. The Rocks are 29-34. The loss officially knocked the Rocks out of the first-half race with 7 games left. Chris Dwyer pitches Sunday's series finale.

* The Lugnuts cranked out 5 late runs to extend Burlington's losing streak. The game was scoreless until Burlington scored 2 in the 5th on a Luis Del Rosario RBI single and Gerard Hall RBI double. Tyler Sample gave up a leadoff homer in the 7th as he had a wild but solid start. Onassis Sirrett allowed the tying run to score before escaping the inning. Lansing added 3 runs in the 8th and Deivy Batista hit an RBI double in the 8th before the Bees stranded 2 in scoring position. RP Casey Beck struck out the side for Lansing in the 9th for his 1st save. RP Matt Wright pitched 2 scoreless for the win to move to 3-1. Starter Egan Smith allowed 2 runs (1 ER) over 5 IP. SS Ryan Goins was 2-5 with 2 doubles (11). The Bees are 20-42 and can't wait for the start of the second half. IF Ryan Wood is the latest KC farmhand who will be switched to a pitcher as he is headed to extended ST in Arizona. He was a 2009 draftee.
