C. Hayes 2/3 IP, ER, 2 H -- 5.52

* Sunday's game was like if Omaha spent the first 11 innings building a house of cards, and then tripped over their own feet and fell into it in the 12th as the RedHawks went on a rampage. Gaby Hernandez stranded the bases full in the 1st and the Royals, who are making an art of stranding runners with 32 over the 2-day weekend, stranded the first of 16 in the 1st. The Royals actually broke the ice in the 4th with a Jordan Parraz RBI single, but Hernandez served up a solo homer in the 6th to tie it. Matt Herges gave up the go-ahead run in the 7th but Omaha got a bases-loaded walk from Ed Lucas before leaving 'em loaded in the 8th. Omaha did it again in the 9th and Josh Rupe left the bases full in the 11th. Greg Holland came in for the 12th and got 1 out before the wheels fell off. Here's the inning: walk, bunt force out, double, IBB, RBI single, RBI single, bases-loaded walk, RBI single, in comes Disco Hayes, RBI single, RBI groundout, 2-run single, flyout. Omaha stranded 1 in the 12th. RP Elizardo Ramirez pitched 2 scoreless to improve to 4-1. Starter Doug Mathis allowed an ER over 7 IP. LF Chad Tracy was 3-6 with 2 doubles and his 31st RBI and SS Gregorio Petit had 2 hits and 2 RBI (21). Omaha is 29-26. Bryan Bullington starts game 3 Monday.

AA - NW Arkansas: Naturals 6, Midland 1

CF D. Robinson 2-5, RBI (18), K, RS -- .287
LF T. Smith 2-4, 2 RS -- .315
2B Seratelli 2-4, BB, K, 2 SB (3) -- .264
3B Moustakas 1-5, 2B (15), 3 RBI (49) -- .367, steps up at the right times this season
DH Mejia 1-3, BB, 2B (9), RBI (31), K -- .266
SS McConnell 1-3, BB, RBI (17), 2 K, CS (5) -- .257
1B C. Robinson 1-3, 2 BB, RS -- .271
NWA stranded 11.

B. Johnson 5 2/3 IP, ER, 4 H, 2 BB, K -- 4.15 ERA
Swaggerty 3 1/3 IP, BB, 5 K -- W, 2-2, 3.77 ERA, very nice outing

* The Naturals made a late surge to overtake Midland for the win. Both teams had early chances but squandered them and an Ernesto Mejia RBI double gave the Nats the lead in the 4th. Johnson gave up the game-tying hit before getting pulled for Ben Swaggerty, who would hold Midland hitless the rest of the way. Chris McConnell and Derrick Robinson hit RBI singles in the 6th. Swaggerty worked around a walk by striking out the side in the 8th and Mike Moustakas ripped a 3-run double in the 8th to help put it away. RP Beau Vaughan allowed 2 ER over 2 IP to fall to 1-3. Starter Anthony Capra allowed an ER over 3 1/3 IP but walked 6. Only 4 RockHounds had a hit. NW Arkansas is 32-22 and edging closer to locking in that first half title. Mario Santiago starts Monday as the Nats go for the sweep. C Manny Pina was put on the DL with a thigh injury suffered while running the bases Saturday, and C Ben Theriot was recalled from Wilmington to fill the slot.

A-Adv. - Wilmington: Blue Rocks 9, Potomac 4

C S. Perez 3-5, 2B (11), 3B, 3 RBI (31) -- .309
SS Navarro 3-5, 2B (4), RS -- .205
RF Francis 2-5, 2B (3), 2 RBI (5), K -- .229
3B Romak 2-5, 2B (11), RBI (32), K, RS -- .257
1B Hosmer 1-2, 2 BB, SF, RBI (33), K, 3 RS -- .360
DH Rivera 2-3, 2B, K, 2 RS -- .152
CF Norris 0-5, RBI (16), K, RS -- .206, needs to be in 9 hole, not leadoff
Wilmington stranded 12.

Lamb 6 IP, ER, 2 H, 2 BB, 9 K, pickoff -- W, 2-1, 1.50 ERA, booyakashah
Baez 2 IP, H, balk -- 5.06 ERA
S. De La Rosa IP, 3 ER, H, 2 BB, 3 K, HRA, WP -- 6.75 ERA

* Six early runs and more stellar pitching from John Lamb got the Rocks another win in the finale with Potomac. Salvador Perez reacted to the news the Royals are supposedly drafting a college catcher in round 1 of the draft Monday by stroking a 2-run triple in the 1st. The Rocks then came to his aid with 4 more runs in the 2nd on a Patrick Norris RBI fielder's choice, Nick Francis RBI single, run-scoring wild pitch and Eric Hosmer sac fly to make it 6-0 Rocks. Lamb gave up his only run allowed in the 4th and the Rocks got it back in the inning on a Jamie Romak RBI double. Lamb struck out 5 in a row at one point. Perez hit an RBI double in the 6th and Francis doubled in a run in the 7th. Starling De La Rosa gave up a meaningless 3-run homer in the 9th before closing out the win. P-Nats SP Adrian Alaniz allowed 7 ER over 4 IP to drop to 1-2. Potomac only had 4 hits as 1B (Mary) Tyler Moore (just kidding) had his 8th HR and 3 RBI (34). Damn, my jokes are dated. First an Ali G reference, now Mary Tyler Moore. The Rocks are 26-31. Tim Melville starts Monday in the first of 3 at home versus the Kinston Indians (29-27). Hmm, Wil Myers didn't play today and the Rocks are down a catcher...I hope the Royals don't disappoint.

A - Burlington: Bees 5, South Bend 2

LF Frost 1-3, S, 3B (2), 2 RBI (15), RS -- .258
1B Lewis 1-3, BB, 3B, RBI (29), 2 K -- .259
C Bonilla 1-4, RBI (7), K, RS -- .243
CF Testa 0-4, K -- .263

Mitchell 5 2/3 IP, UER, 4 H, 3 BB, 3 K -- 5.13 ERA
Kelley 1 1/3 IP, 2 K -- 6.12 ERA
Sirrett IP, ER, 2 H, BB, HRA -- W, 1-0, 5.19 ERA
Encarnacion IP, nothing -- SV, 2, 0.00 ERA

* Sunday's win may be the Bees' highlight of the first half as they rallied in the 9th for the win. South Bend scored a run off Matt Mitchell in the 2nd and Hilton Richardson was thrown out at the plate in the 7th as the Bees were being shut out on 4 hits into the 9th. Onassis Sirrett allowed a solo homer in the 8th to make it 2-0 Silver Hawks entering the final frame. A South Bend error started the 9th before Joey Lewis hit a clutch RBI triple and Jose Bonilla hit a key 2-out single to tie the game. Adam Frost stepped up 2 batters later and ripped a 2-run triple that he scored on after a second error by 2B David Narodowski in the inning. Rodolfo Encarnacion pitched a perfect 9th for his 2nd save. RP Yonata Ortega allowed 5 unearned runs in his inning of work to blow his 3rd save and drop to 3-3. Starter Michael Belfiore pitched 7 scoreless to drop his ERA to 2.67. RF Alberto Diaz was the only South Bend hitter with more than 1 hit. The Bees are 20-37 and have Monday off.
