The total of signed draftees is now 14 as 6th rounder lefty Scott Alexander, 10th rounder OF Tim Ferguson, 16th rdr P Charles Byrne, 20th rdr OF Cameron Conner, 21st rd SS Michael Liberto, 38th rd P Nick Graffeo (Seitzer's stepson), and 47th rdr OF Clifford Sandford (from Park U) signed on the dotted line. Also signed was NDFA P Nicholas Rogers from NC A&T.

* Three pitchers combined on a shutout as Omaha took down the Sounds. Omaha loaded the bases with 0 out in the 1st but got only a Kila Ka'aihue sac fly and the bases were left full. Jai Miller added another sac fly in the 3rd and Kurt Mertins stepped up with a 3-run homer for his 3rd at AAA to make it 5-0. Luis Mendoza allowed more than 1 baserunner in only 1 inning and Bryan Bullington and Blaine Hardy pitched quiet innings of relief. Starter Chase Wright allowed 5 ER over 3 IP to fall to 4-3. RF Trent Oeltjen was 3-4. Omaha is 31-28. Gaby Hernandez starts Saturday's game 3.

* The Naturals gave Edgar Osuna a heap o' run support in the 1st and the ace of the staff made it stand. After Derrick Robinson had singled, swiped second and advanced to third to start the inning, Johnny Giavotella hit an RBI double and Mike Moustakas battered a 2-run homer for his 14th of the season. Anthony Seratelli singled home Nick Van Stratten later in the inning to make it 4-0 Nats. Arkansas got an RBI groundout in the 2nd and the Travelers got a steal of home in the 5th to cut the lead to 4-2. Patrick Keating hurled a 1-2-3 9th for his 1st AA save. Travs SP Jeremy Thorne allowed 4 ER over 6 IP to fall to 2-2. RF Jeremy Moore was 3-3 for Arkansas.

* The Naturals made the 2010 Diamond Series 10-3 in their favor with the twinbill sweep Friday. Mike Moustakas hit an RBI groundout in the 1st and Paulo Orlando scored on a passed ball in the 3rd. The big inning was the 4th as Jeff Howell clipped an RBI double, Ernesto Mejia went yard for a 2-run shot for his 8th of the season and Derrick Robinson hit a 2-run double to make it 7-0. Aaron Crow had a quiet first 3 innings but gave up 3 runs in the 4th thanks in part to 2 errors on the Nats' D. Crow put the first 2 on in the 6th and Ben Swaggerty allowed 1 in before getting out of the inning. Brandon Sisk was brought on with 2 out and the bases loaded in the 7th and got a clutch K to end it. Travelers SP Ryan Brasier allowed 7 ER over 4 IP to fall to 4-6. CF Jeremy Moore had 2 hits and 2 RBI (15). The Naturals are 35-23 and their magic number for the first half title is now 6.

* One bad inning was enough to cost John Lamb and the Blue Rocks the game Friday. The Dash rapped 4 singles and then a killer 3-run triple to take a 4-0 lead in the 2nd. Eric Hosmer hit a sac fly in the 3rd and Patrick Norris hit an RBI triple in the 8th before scoring on an Adrian Ortiz sac fly to trim the lead to 1. Hosmer was stranded at third to end the inning and Dash RP Greg Infante slammed the door in the 9th for his 9th save. Starter Stephen Sauer got the win with 3 ER over 7 IP to improve to 5-2. Three Dash-ers had 2 hits. RF Brandon Short had the big triple for his 3rd of the season and 3 RBI (44). The Rocks are 29-33. Tim Melville starts Saturday's game 3. 3B Jamie Romak had his hitting streak snapped at 18 games tonight. He would have tied a club record with a hit tonight.

* The Bees didn't get going until the hole was too deep to climb out of Friday. Wil Myers committed a run-scoring passed ball in the 2nd and Dusty Odenbach made his 1st pro start and served up a 3-run homer in the 3rd. Sam Runion made his return to A-ball and gave up a solo homer in the 5th to make it 5-0 Lansing. The Bees were being shut out on 3 hits entering the 7th but a run scored on a Luis Del Rosario single and Lugnut error in the inning. Mitch Hodge gave the run back in the 8th and another Bee run scored on an error in the 8th to trim it to 6-2. J.D. Alfaro hit a big 2-run single in the 9th but Joey Lewis hit into a game-ending double play with the tying run at second. Lugnuts SP Ryan Tepera allowed an unearned run over 7 IP to move to 6-2. SS Kevin Nolan had 3 hits for Lansing. RF Brad Glenn slammed his 5th homer with 3 RBI (22). The Bees are 20-41.
