Royals on the Farm 6/8

AAA - Omaha: Oklahoma City 6, O-Royals 0 (4-hitter)

SS Falu 1-4 -- .311
LF Gordon 1-4, K -- .377
CF Miller 1-3, 2B (14), 2 K -- .237, Omaha's only XBH
2B Mertins 1-2, BB -- .258
DH Ankiel 0-4, 4 K -- .000, OOF, el sombrero de oro
1B Ka'aihue 0-3, 2 K -- .319
RF Parraz 0-3 -- .254
At least only 3 LOB.

Parrish 2/3 IP, 2 ER, H, BB -- L, 0-1, 27.00 ERA, banner day for the rehabbers
Lerew 5 1/3 IP, 4 ER, 9 H, 3 BB, 7 K, HRA -- 3.14 ERA, not good on the WHIP
C. Hayes 3 IP, 2 H, BB, K -- 4.58 ERA, one bright spot on the day, tho his K rate still reeks

* Oklahoma City rode the pitching of starter Michael Kirkman to the shutout win. John Parrish made a rehab start and put 2 on with 2 out before getting pulled without escaping the 1st after only 15 pitches. Anthony Lerew promptly served up a 3-run homer, which tells me he wasn't necessarily counting on coming in in the 1st. Lerew gave up a 3-run double in the 3rd and that was all the RedHawks needed. Alex Gordon was nailed at the plate after a Jai Miller double to end the 4th and that was Omaha's best shot. Kirkman struck out 9 over 7 scoreless to improve to 6-1 with a 3.17 ERA for OKC. Every RedHawk had a hit with 3 having 2 hits. Former Indian 1B Ryan Garko had 2 hits including his 4th homer and 3 RBI (11). Omaha is 30-27. Parrish must not be suffering any ill effects, because after an off day tomorrow he gets another rehab start Thursday.

AA - NWA: off day

* NWA is 32-23. A 4-game set at the Arkansas Travelers (21-33, AA Angels) starts tomorrow with Eduardo Paulino getting the start.

A-Adv. - Wilmington: Blue Rocks 2, Kinston 1

RF Francis 2-4, 2 2B (6), RBI (7), RS -- .256
SS Navarro 2-3 -- .227
C S. Perez 0-3, SF, RBI (22) -- .294
LF Ortiz 0-3, S -- .275
1B Hosmer 1-3, BB, K -- .359

Dwyer 7 IP, 4 H, 7 K -- 3.22 ERA
Bowden 2 IP, ER, 3 H, 3 K -- W, 2-3, 1.71 ERA

* Chris Dwyer had a good start and the Rocks stranded 2 in scoring position in the 4th. Rey Navarro was thrown out at home to end the 5th and Dwyer left 2 in scoring position in the 6th and recovered to strike out the side in the 7th. Kinston broke the ice finally with a run off Barry Bowden in the 8th but Nick Francis tied it with a double in the 8th and a Salvador Perez sac fly ended up being the difference. Bowden worked around an error behind him in the 9th to finish his 2nd win. RP Rob Bryson allowed 2 ER over 1/3 IP to fall to 2-1. Starter Marty Popham pitched 7 scoreless to drop his ERA to 3.74. 2B Jason Kipnis was 3-4 with 3 doubles (12) and his 31st RBI. 3B Karexon Sanchez also had 2 hits, as that duo has hit Wilmington well all season. The Rocks are 28-31. Ivor Hodgson starts Wednesday's series finale.

A - Burlington: Great Lakes 9, Bees 3

DH Lewis 2-4, 2B (16), RBI (30) -- .265
2B D. Batista 1-3, BB, SF, RBI (13) -- .239
C Myers 0-3, 2 BB, 2 K, RS, SB (8) -- .275
LF Testa 0-4 -- .257
1B Graterol 1-4 -- .303

Paukovits 6 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 4 K, HRA -- L, 3-3, 3.31 ERA
Dennick 1 2/3 IP, ER, 2 H, BB -- 5.24 ERA
Hodge IP, 5 ER, 2 H, 4 BB, WP -- 7.01 ERA, returning to old form
Lehmann 1/3 IP, H, K -- 6.82 ERA

* Great Lakes turned it on late to pull away to win the series opener. The Bees took command early with 2 in the 1st on a Deivy Batista sac fly and a run-scoring error. Bryan Paukovits allowed a solo homer in the 3rd and then 2 more runs before the dust settled in the inning. Ryan Dennick gave up an RBI triple in the 7th but the Bees got the run back on a Joey Lewis RBI double in the bottom of the frame. The Loons pulled away with 5 in the 9th off Mitch Hodge and Mike Lehmann. The Bees are 20-38. In a cool bit of news, C Wil Myers and P Bryan Paukovits will represent the Bees on the MWL West all-star team June 22 at Fort Wayne.
