* The Royals offense was in full effect Saturday and Manauris Baez backed it up with a solid start. Alex Gordon went solo in the 1st for his 13th of the season and Jordan Parraz added a 2-out, 3-run homer for his 8th of the season to make it 4-0 Omaha. Baez labored a bit in the 2nd and Kila Ka'aihue took a bases-loaded walk in the 2nd to extend the lead. Baez gave up a solo homer in the 4th and Omaha responded with 5 runs in the inning on an Irving Falu RBI double, Gordon RBI single, Ed Lucas bases-loaded walk, run-scoring double play ball, and a Jai Miller RBI single to make it 10-1. The carnage was complete in the 6th as Miller smoked a 2-run homer (his 11th) and another Gordon RBI single finished the scoring. Starter Alberto Bastardo took the loss for the Isotopes with 10 runs (7 ER) over 3 IP to fall to 3-1. DH John Lindsey had 3 hits including his 14th homer and CF Jamie Hoffmann had 2 hits. Omaha is 48-40. The Royals will go into the all-star break after Sunday's series finale as Bryan Bullington gets the start.

* The Naturals made a late comeback bid but came up short as the winning streak came to an end. Eduardo Paulino was behind the 8-ball from the start by giving up a double and 2-run homer to start the Missions 1st. Paulino gave up a 2-out, 2-run single in the 3rd but Blake Johnson came in to strand 2 in the 4th. The Missions added a run in the 5th and it ended up being huge. The Naturals mounted a rally in the 6th as Paulo Orlando hit an RBI double, Jamie Romak hit a 2-run double and Jeff Howell hit an RBI double before Chris McConnell lined into a double play to abruptly end the rally. The Nats loaded the bases with 0 out in the 9th but Derrick Robinson hit into a double play and Johnny Giavotella hit a game-ending groundout as RP Craig Italiano pulled the Houdini for his 17th save. Missions SP Cory Luebke allowed 3 ER over 5 IP to improve to 5-1. RF Sawyer Carroll and 3B James Darnell had 2 hits as Carroll also walked twice and drove in 2 (42). NWA is 12-3. A 3-game set at the Corpus Christi Hooks (0-15!, AA Astros) starts Sunday.

A-Adv. - Wilmington: rainout

* The game will be made up Monday, so the series with the Pelicans will instead start Sunday with Tim Melville taking the mound.

* Dusty Odenbach had a decent start but got no run support as Wisconsin took the series opener. Deivy Batista and Carlo Testa hit back-to-back triples in the 1st but they only had 3 hits after that. Odenbach stranded 2 in the 1st and the Bees stranded 2 in the 3rd. Odenbach balked in the go-ahead run in a 2-run Rattlers 3rd. The Bees got a couple runners on late but couldn't cash in. RP Efrain Nieves threw 4 2/3 scoreless IP to improve to 3-3. Starter Damon Krestalude allowed an ER over 4 IP. DH Chris Dennis had 2 hits but the Timber Rattlers only had 1 more hit than the Bees. The Bees are 8-7.

* Ogden took the series opener from the Chukars. Murray Watts hit a sac fly in the 1st but Ogden took the lead for good in the 2nd with 2 runs off Starling De La Rosa. Ogden scored another run in the 3rd and Santiago Garrido started his outing with a run-scoring wild pitch in the 5th. Jake Kuebler led off the 6th with his 3rd homer of the season but the Chukars only had 1 more hit in the game. The Raptors got an insurance run in the 9th and the Chukars got the leadoff guy on in the 9th but RP Shawn Tolleson struck out the side thereafter. Starter Red Patterson allowed an ER over 5 IP to improve to 2-0. DH Jonathan Garcia had 2 hits and 3B Pedro Guerrero drove in 2 runs (4). The Chukars are 11-9. Game 2 is Sunday.

* The B-Royals blew a 2-run lead in the 8th and lost in 11. Willian Avinazar continued his strong play this season as he stranded 2 in the 3rd and his only damage was a 4th inning run. The Royals couldn't get to Rays starter Eliazer Suero, but when he was pulled to start the 7th, Gabe MacDougall greeted RP George Nelson with a solo homer for his 2nd of the season. Geoff Baldwin singled but was thrown out at second and it cost the Royals as Anthony Howard tripled and Alex McClure hit a sac fly before Derek Rodriguez doubled in a third run to make it 3-1. Justin Mazur walked 2 and had 2 on with 2 out in the 8th when he gave up a killer triple to tie the game. The Royals put 2 on with 1 out in the 10th and had the bases loaded with 2 out when Baldwin struck out looking to kill the rally as his season stayed in the doldrums. Claudio Bavera allowed a run in the 11th and Howard threw out a runner at the plate to end the half-inning. The Royals didn't threaten in the bottom of the inning. RP Mickey Jannis pitched 2 scoreless innings to win and move to 2-0. Suero allowed 3 hits over 6 IP. Three Rays had 2 hits. The Royals are 10-9. Game 2 is Sunday. Ryan Stovall got the call up to Wilmington as Eric Hosmer went to the Futures game.

* The Royals only mustered 3 hits and the Mariners scratched out a run to get the win. A triple and sac fly did the job in the 6th off Brennon Martin and the Royals got a 1-out double in the 9th and the runner was at third with 2 out when Cheslor Cuthbert grounded out to end it. RP Taijuan Walker pitched 2 scoreless innings to improve to 1-0, and starter Nathan Reed had 2 Ks over 4 scoreless. 2B Jean Acevedo had 2 hits. The Royals are 9-7.
