* Omaha rebounded to beat the Zephyrs Tuesday. They wasted no time as Scott Thorman hit a 2-run single in the 1st and Ed Lucas started a big night with a 2-run homer for his 6th of the season. Lucas led off the 4th with his 2nd homer of the game and 7th of the season, and a double-play ball scored another run to make it 6-0 Omaha. Bryan Bullington had another fine start but finally gave up a run in the 6th. New Orleans pushed in another run in the 7th but Manny Pina led off the 9th with his 1st AAA homer and the bullpen was pretty much lockdown. Zephyrs SP Wes Whisler allowed 6 ER over 6 IP to fall to 0-2. Seven Zephyrs had a hit each. Omaha is 44-39. Luis Mendoza starts the series finale Wednesday.

* The Naturals kept the Hooks winless on the second half with the sweep. Anthony Seratelli took a bases-loaded walk in the 1st but the Nats left the bases full. NWA scored 3 in the 2nd on a Ben Theriot RBI triple, Johnny Giavotella RBI single and Mike Moustakas RBI double. Derrick Robinson kept it rolling with an RBI single in the 3rd to make it 5-0. Dwyer stranded 2 in the 5th but was never in real danger throughout his 5 innings of work. The Nats added a run in the 4th as Paulo Orlando took home on a throw on a hit by Tim Smith. Clint Robinson led off the 6th with his 15th homer of the season to make it 7-0 Nats. Chris Chavez spoiled the shutout by giving up a leadoff homer in the 8th but Ben Swaggerty came in to strand the bases loaded. Starter Jordan Lyles allowed 6 ER over 3 1/3 IP to drop to 6-6. CF Jack Shuck and 3B Jhon Florentino had 2 hits. The Naturals are 10-2. They have Wednesday off.

* Ivor Hodgson threw together a scoreless start and the bullpen held strong to give the Rocks the win. Eric Hosmer got thrown out at the plate to end the Rocks 1st and Hodgson stranded 2 in the 1st. Jarrod Dyson hit an RBI double in the 3rd and Hodgson stranded 2 again in the 4th. Hosmer singled in a run in the 5th and Hodgson, Brendan Lafferty and Barry Bowden took care of the rest. Potomac SP Evan Bronson allowed 2 ER over 7 IP to fall to 3-6. LF Brian Peacock and 2B Stephen Lombardozzi had 2 hits for the P-Nats. The Rocks are 8-5. Jamie Romak was once again named the league Player of the Week, this time for a third time. He hit .519 over the week.

A - Burlington: rainout

* The finale with Quad Cities was a washout. A 3-game home set with the Cedar Rapids Kernels (6-5, A Angels, first half division champs) starts Wednesday. Rene Oriental and Dusty Odenbach were named the MWL's Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Oriental batted .429 with 2 HR and 9 RBI on the week. Odenbach had 2 scoreless starts with 9 K/2 BB in 11 IP over the week.

* Dan Duffy continued to get back into shape and Greg Billo followed with 5 scoreless innings as the Chukars took game 1 of the 2-game set from the Ghosts. Geulin Beltre led off the IF 4th with his 1st homer of the season and Malcom Culver added a sac fly in the 6th. Jason Mitchell gave up a run in the 8th but Alex Rivers stranded 1 in the 9th for his 3rd save. Starter Alejandro Barraza allowed an ER over 5 IP to drop to 0-2. CF Rafael Ortega and 1B Blake McDade had 2 hits for Casper. IF is 9-7. The series wraps Wednesday.

* The Twins turned the tables and put a beating on the Royals Tuesday, but the series belonged to Burlington overall. The Twins scored 2 runs in the 1st off Jonathan Dooley but Geoff Baldwin hit a sac fly (before the Royals stranded 2 in the 1st) and Alex Llanos doubled in a run in the 2nd to tie the game. Elizabethton moved ahead for good with 5 runs in the 4th off Dooley and Justin Mazur, who gave up a 2-run homer to the first batter he faced. Edul Escobar was gunned out at the plate to end the Royals 4th and Elizabethton added a run in the 5th to make it 8-2. Alex McClure doubled in a run in the 5th but the Twins got a solo homer in the 6th to get the run back. They tacked on another solo homer in the 7th. Burlington left the bases loaded in the 7th for their last chance. RP Zach See pitched 2 2/3 scoreless IP to improve to 3-0. Starter Martire Garcia pitched 4 1/3 IP of 3 ER. SS Daniel Santana had 3 hits, 2 RBI and 2 RS, and CF Oswaldo Arcia had 2 HR (6) and 4 RBI (15) for the Twins. 3B Andy Leer had 2 hits too. The B-Royals are 9-6. A 3-game set at the Danville Braves (7-8) starts Wednesday with Crawford Simmons taking the mound.

Rookie - AZL: The Royals are up, 7-1, in the 7th on the Indians. They hung on to beat the Angels, 4-2, yesterday.

* The Royals established a nice lead on the Tribe and were holding it late. The Royals scored 4 in the 2nd on a wild pitch, a Darian Sandford RBI single and 2-run Jose Rodriguez single. Cheslor Cuthbert hit his 1st homer of the season in the 3rd and Ysmelin Alcantara singled in a run to make it 6-0. An error scored Sandford in the 4th. Jonathan Rodriguez allowed a run in the 5th but pitched well otherwise.
