Wichita got out of the gates quickly but sputtered in the long run in dropping the finale with Frisco. An error, 2 walks and a Jorge Padilla double play ball scored Adam Greenberg in the 1st to give Wichita a 1-0 lead. The Wranglers took walks to load the bases in the 2nd and Geraldo Valentin hit a 2-out, 2-run single to make it 3-0. Wichita stranded 2, tho, and Frisco scored 2 runs on 3 hits in the bottom of the 2nd with 2 solo homers in the 3rd making it 4-3 RoughRiders. It wasn't a great night for the Blue Rocks bullpen as they blew not 1 but 2 saves in the process of squandering a solid start by Dan Cortes. Cortes left a runner at third in the 1st and then left them loaded in the 4th. The Rocks were having the same problems as they stranded 2 in scoring position in the 5th and Potomac did the same in the bottom of the 5th. Two singles helped chase Nats SP Cory VanAllen in the 6th and Miguel Vega greeted RP Eddy Baeza with an RBI double to break the ice. The Rocks sputtered there, however, as they left the bases full. The lead lasted 1 batter into the Nats 6th as Rayner Oliveros gave up back-to-back jacks to start the half-inning and make it 2-1 Potomac. Oliveros did the same thing in the 7th and Potomac took a 4-1 lead. Wilmington wasn't done, however, as the Rocks scored 4 in the 8th on a 2-run homer by Brian McFall for his 12th of the season, a wild pitch that scored Chris McConnell, and an RBI single from Jose Duarte. RP Arthur Santos stranded 2 in the 8th and got the first out in the bottom of the 9th before giving up 2 singles and a walk-off 3-run homer to C Devin Ivany to end it. Nats DH Chris Marrero was 3-5 with his 7th homer and 28th RBI to move to .275, Ivany was 1-5 with his 5th homer and 3 RBI (16) to move to .337 and RP Josh Perrault picked up his 3rd blown save but also the win with 2 IP of an ER on a hit, walk and 3 Ks to improve to 5-3 with a 3.45 ERA.

The Bees scored 7 unanswered runs to get in position for a potential sweep tonight. The Bees stranded 2 in the 1st and Dayton scored 2 runs in the 2nd on 2 hits, a passed ball and error off Everett Teaford. The Dragons added a run on 2 hits and an error in the 3rd before a Luis Castillo sac fly in the 3rd cut the lead to 3-1. Teaford and Angelo Morales combined to retire 18 of 19 from the 4th on and, after the Bees stranded 2 in the 4th, Jeff Bianchi led off the 5th with his 2nd homer to cut it to 3-2. Burlington took the lead in the 6th with 3 runs on a Derrick Robinson 2-run double and a Jamar Walton RBI single. Jesus Soto added a sac fly in the 7th and Joe Dickerson singled in another run only to see Matt Morizio thrown out at third to end the rally. Only an 8th inning walk allowed by Morales blemished the Bees' perfect pitching after the 3rd. Dayton RP Marcos Mateo took the loss with 2 IP of 5 ER on 7 hits and a walk to fall to 2-4 with a 3.75 ERA.

Burlington is 26-23 and 5 games back. The Bees go for the 4-game sweep tonight. No announced Burlington starter on the team site. OF Felix Peralta left the game with an apparent hamstring injury.

Swaggerty 2 IP, UER, 2 H, 2 K, WP -- 4.50 ERA
Roach IP, K -- 4.43 ERA

A nightmare 6th cost the Chukars the game in the opener with the Great Falls White Sox. Devery Van De Keere gave IF an early lead with an RBI ground out in the 1st but Great Falls tied the game in the 2nd on 3 hits and a Ryan Eigsti error. Adrian Ortiz kept the game tied by throwing out a runner at the plate to end the inning. Eigsti atoned for his mistake with a solo homer in the 4th for his 2nd of the season and Clint Robinson hit a 2-out RBI single in the 6th to make it 3-1. Joe Hughes came in to pitch the 6th and didn't record an out as 2 singles, a run-scoring Robinson error, a walk, a run-scoring wild pitch, another walk and a 2-run ground-rule double brought Ben Swaggerty in from the bullpen. Swaggerty allowed a run on another wild pitch and gave up an RBI double to make it 7-3 before the inning came to a merciful end. Swaggerty gave up another run in the 7th thanks in part to a Van De Keere error and the Chukars couldn't rally. Sox 2B Dale Mollenhauer was 2-3 with 2 SB (8), his 8th double and 2 RBI (31) to move to .284 and P Wascar Segura got the win with 1 2/3 IP of an UER on 2 hits and a walk to improve to 2-0 with a 3.78 ERA.

The Royals rallied in the 9th but it wasn't enough as the Mets split the series. Starter Anthony Bradley had a rough 1st as the Mets scored 2 runs on a solo homer and a hit, steal and passed ball. Brett Amyx scored on a wild pitch in the 2nd but the Royals left 2 in scoring position. They took the lead with a 2-run 4th on RBI singles by Nick Doscher and Kyle Martin before leaving the bases loaded. Bradley couldn't hold the lead, tho, as Kingsport scored 3 in the bottom of the frame on 4 doubles and a single. Jake Lane led off the 5th with his 5th pro homer to cut the lead back to 1 but the Mets got some insurance with 2 runs in the 8th off RPs Ryan Belanger and Ryan Woods on 2 errors and a double. The Royals took walks to load the bases with 1 out in the 9th and Amyx singled home 2 runs to cut it to 7-6, but Wilson Tucker grounded into a 6-4-3 DP to end it. A 5-run 1st got the Royals off to a good start and they kept it up to run away from the Pads. Hilton Richardson led off the game with a triple and the Royals went on to 5 runs in the inning on a Vinny Pennell RBI single, a Pads error that scored Pennell, another error that scored David Wood and a 2-run single by Ryan Angel. Starter Williams Farinas gave up a 2-run homer in the 1st to keep the Padres in it but the Royals pushed across 2 more in the 2nd on a Wood RBI triple and Diego Cruz RBI single. Farinas allowed 3 more runs in the 2nd on a single, 2 doubles and a triple to cut it to 7-5 and bring in Matt Mitchell, who pitched well into the 5th. Cruz and Angel hit RBI singles in the 4th to make it 9-5 and Fernando Cruz hit an RBI ground out in the 6th to make it 10-5.
