Billy Buckner and Miguel Pinango pitched a scoreless duel until Justin Huber had the big hit in the 8th to give Omaha the win. Shane Costa led off the Omaha 1st with a triple but got thrown out on a fielder's choice trying to score on a grounder. Buckner gave up 3 singles to load the bases to start the 6th but got a fly out double play when Mitch Maier nailed a runner trying to score from third. Buckner escaped the inning unscathed. Huber stepped up to the plate with 1 out and 1 on in the 8th and crushed a 2-run homer to left to make it 2-0 Omaha and chase Pinango. Buckner was pulled with 1 on and 1 out in the 9th and Jason Shiell walked the bases loaded before wiggling out of the jam to pick up his 3rd save. Vegas RF Wilkin Ruan was 3-3 to move to .306 and Pinango took the loss with 7 1/3 IP of 2 ER on 3 hits, a walk and 3 Ks to drop to 7-6 with a 3.98 ERA.

Omaha is 57-57 and 11 1/2 games back. The Royals go for the sweep tonight. Probable starters: 51s LH Eric Stults (5-5, 7.05) vs. Omaha RH Ben Hendrickson (9-5, 5.49). P Roman Colon has been added to the Omaha roster.

Carlos Rosa had his best start yet as Wichita blanked the Travelers. Rosa stranded a runner at third in the 1st as he started a streak of 13 outs in a row for Arkansas. Adam Greenberg was thrown out trying to steal third to end the 4th but Irving Falu came through in the 5th with a 2-run ground-rule double to put the Wranglers up, 2-0. The Wranglers loaded the bases with 1 out in the 6th but left the bases full. Mike Stodolka singled in Greenberg in the 7th to make it 3-0. Jarod Plummer had a great 3-inning outing including striking out the side in the 9th for his 11th save. Travs LF Brad Coon was 2-4 with his 5th double to move to .296 and SP Nick Adenhart took the loss with 6 IP of 2 ER on 4 hits, 3 walks and 8 Ks to drop to 8-5 with a 3.27 ERA.

Wichita is 16-24 and 7 games back. The series continues tonight. Probable starters: Wichita lefty Dan Christensen (3-11, 5.73) vs. an undetermined Arkansas starter.

A 5-run 3rd did most of the damage for the Blue Rocks as Rowdy Hardy and 3 relievers held off the Keys. The Rocks left 2 in scoring position in the 1st and Frederick scored a run off Hardy in the 1st with a walk and base hit. Jeremy Cleveland tied the game with his 1st homer as a Blue Rock in the 2nd and Wilmington raced ahead in the 3rd with a 5-run rally on a 2-run single by Brian McFall, a Cleveland single that scored 2 runs thanks to a Keys error and another error that scored Kiel Thibault. Hardy gave up a 2-run homer in the 3rd and another run on 3 hits in the 5th to cut it to 6-4. Thibault hit a sac fly in the 7th to make it 7-4 but Yovany D'Amico gave up 2 solo homers in the Keys 7th to cut the lead to 1. Marc Maddox hit a 2-out triple in the 8th and Mario Lisson came through with an equally big double to make it 8-6. Blake Johnson and Arthur Santos pitched 2 perfect innings as Santos nabbed his 6th save. Keys CF Chris Amador was 2-4 with his 5th homer and 3 RBI (17) to move to .304 and SP Brad Bergesen took the loss with 2 2/3 IP of 6 runs (5 ER) on 8 hits and a K to fall to 1-4 with a 7.66 ERA.

Wilmington is 26-15 and 5 games up on first. The series wraps tonight. Probable starters: Rocks right-hander Michael Penn (2-1, 4.04) vs. Keys righty Chorye Spoone (7-7, 3.55). P Brandon Duckworth is slated to start a rehab assignment with the Rocks soon.

Things got ugly early on for Bees SP Jason Godin and the Silver Hawks ran away for the series-opening win. Luis Castillo gave the Bees the early lead with a solo homer in the 2nd for his 2nd of the season but the Silver Hawks got to Godin in the 3rd for 2 runs on 2 hits, a wild pitch and hit batsman to take a 2-1 lead. South Bend added 5 runs in the 4th on 4 hits and 2 walks off Godin before Josh Cribb stranded the bases loaded in the inning. Jesus Soto hit a 2-out RBI double in the 7th to cut it to 7-2 and a 2-out double by Jeff Howell in the 9th went for naught. South Bend RF Gerardo Parra was 1-4 with his 4th triple and 3 RBI (57) to move to .319 and SP Anthony Barnette got the win with 7 IP of 2 ER on 5 hits, a walk and 6 Ks to improve to 7-7 with a 3.50 ERA.

Burlington is 18-22 and 6 1/2 games back. The series continues tonight. No announced starters on the team site.

The Royals scored in only 2 innings but made both count big-time to take 2 of 3 from the Cards. Starter Brian Gausman gave up a solo homer in the 1st but the Royals rallied for 7 runs in the 2nd on an Antonio Jimenez RBI single, Nick Doscher RBI single, 2-run single by Patrick Norris, an Alwin Perez RBI single and a 2-run triple by Wilson Tucker that chased Cards SP Jose Mateo. Gausman allowed another run on a double and passed ball in the 2nd and the score stayed 7-2 into the 9th. The Royals scored 5 runs in their half of the 9th on a Tucker RBI double, Brett Amyx RBI ground out, error that scored Tucker and a 2-run homer by Kyle Martin for his 5th of the season. P Alex Caldera allowed a run on 2 hits before closing the door in the 9th for his 1st pro save. Cards 2B Mike Folli was 2-3 with his 2nd triple, 3rd homer and 21st RBI to move to .296 and Mateo took the loss with 1 2/3 IP of 7 ER on 6 hits and 2 walks to fall to 3-2 with a 3.44 ERA.

Burlington is 24-18 and 5 games back. A 2-game set at the Elizabethton Twins (29-12) starts tonight. The B-Royals are 2-2 versus the Twins. No announced starters on the team site.

Three Royals pitchers combined to hold the A's down to make 2 runs enough for a win. Diego Cruz hit an RBI single in the 2nd and Dennis Donovan added an RBI double to make it 2-0. Williams Farinas was perfect through 4 IP before allowing a run on 2 hits in the 5th. John Foster stranded 2 in the 6th in his Royals debut and the Royals stranded 2 in the 7th. Matt Mitchell pitched a 1-2-3 9th for his 1st save. A's P Jason Glushon took the loss with 6 IP of 2 ER on 8 hits and 3 Ks to drop to 2-2 with a 4.86 ERA.

The Royals are 5-1 and a game up on first. They play the 4-2 Padres tonight.
