Colon 1 2/3 IP, 3 H, K -- 0.00 ERA, organizational debut, left with "tightness in forearm"

Hoelscher IP, ER, H, HRA -- L, 4-2, 4.81 ERA

Omaha's comeback from a 4-0 deficit fell short as an 11th inning homer gave Tucson the opener. Starter Luke Hochevar got the first 2 outs in the 1st without incident but then gave up a rally of 4 runs on 3 hits, 2 walks and a wild pitch before escaping. Ryan Shealy hit a 2-out RBI double in the Omaha 1st but the Royals left 2 in scoring position. Hochevar gave up a solo homer to Tucson 1B Chris Carter in the 3rd but Shealy smacked a 2-run homer in the bottom of the inning to cut it to 5-3. The Royals got a run closer in the 6th as Matt Tupman hit a 2-out RBI single and, after Craig Brazell led off the 8th with a double, pinch runner Chris Lubanski scored on a Justin Huber double to tie the game. Omaha left the bases full in the inning, however, and the game was tied at 5 into the 11th. Nate Hoelscher came on to pitch that inning for Omaha and served up a 1-out solo homer to C Robby Hammock to give the Sidewinders the edge. Omaha put its first 2 runners on in the bottom of the 11th and a sacrifice moved the runners to second and third with 1 out. Lubanski was intentionally walked to load the bases before Shealy flew out and Mitch Maier grounded out to kill the rally. Carter was 3-5 for Tucson with his 16th homer and 71st RBI to move to .333, Hammock was 2-5 with his 4th homer and 2 RBI (22) to move to .347 and RP Jailen Peguero got the win with 2 IP of 2 hits and 2 walks to improve to 5-2 with a 1.93 ERA.

Omaha is 58-58. Game 2 of the set is tonight. Probable starters: Tucson RH Enrique Gonzalez (6-8, 4.24) vs. Omaha LH Tyler Lumsden (7-5, 6.14).

AA -- Wichita: Wranglers 6, Arkansas 5

SS Falu 1-4, HR (1), 3 RBI (22), RS -- .248
LF Stodolka 1-2, 3 BB, 2B (24), RBI (50), RS -- .306
3B Nettles 2-4, BB, K -- .248
RF Joseph 2-4, 2B (9), RS -- .238
DH Padilla 1-4, S, SB (5) -- .353
2B Valentin 0-4, BB, RS -- .297
1B Kaaihue 1-4, BB, K, RS -- .250

D. Hughes 6 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 2 K -- W, 4-2, 3.65 ERA
DeHoyos 2 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 2 K -- 1.01 ERA
Bausher IP, nothing -- SV, 1, 7.52 ERA

A 4-run 6th was key for Wichita in ensuring at least a split of the series with the win. Starter Dusty Hughes gave up a run in each of the first 3 innings and, on the flip side, the Wranglers loaded the bases with no outs in the 2nd and failed to cash in. Mike Stodolka came through with a 2-out ground-rule RBI double in the 3rd and the score was 3-1 entering the 6th after Hughes stranded 2 Travs in scoring position in the 5th. With 2 out and 2 Wranglers on base in the 6th, an error by Arkansas 3B prospect Freddy Sandoval opened the door and allowed a run to score before Travs RP Von Stertzbach entered the game and gave up an unlikely homer to Irving Falu for his 1st of the season as the 3-run shot made it 5-3 Wichita. Jorge Padilla drove in a run with a single in the 7th to make it 6-3 but the Wranglers again left the bases full. Gabe DeHoyos came out for his second inning of work in the 8th and got touched up for 2 runs on 3 hits to cut the lead to 6-5. Tim Bausher pitched a 1-2-3 9th, however, for his 1st save as a Wrangler. Arkansas SS Sean Rodriguez (another top Angels prospect) was 2-3 with his 17th error, 27th double, 2nd triple and 2 RBI (56) to move to .252 and SP Fernando Rodriguez took the loss with 5 2/3 IP of 4 UER on 6 hits, 2 walks and 2 Ks to fall to 6-3 with a 4.18 ERA.

Wichita is 17-25 and 7 games back. The series concludes tonight. Problems accessing the Wranglers website (again) keep me from finding probable starters.

A-Adv. -- Wilmington: off day

A 4-game home set versus the Winston-Salem Warthogs (14-26, A-Adv. ChiSox) starts tonight. Probable starters: rehabbing Royals right-hander Brandon Duckworth vs. Warthogs southpaw Clayton Richard (7-8, 3.68). The Rocks are 6-10 versus the Warthogs.

A -- Burlington: rainout

The Bees and South Bend will make the game up as part of a twinbill today. No announced starters on the team site.

Rookie -- Idaho Falls: Ogden 10, Chukars 3

RF Morel 3-3, SF, RBI (13), RS, 2 SB (5) -- .245
LF Koko 2-3, 2B (4), RBI (12), K, RS -- .175
1B Seratelli 1-4, K -- .337
CF Gonzalez 0-2, BB -- .311
DH Robinson 0-4, 2 K -- .321
2B Evangelho 0-3, BB, RS -- .333

Baldwin 3 IP, 2 R (1 ER), 3 H, 5 BB, 2 K, E (2) -- L, 2-1, 2.70 ERA
Peterson 2 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, BB, K, HRA -- 3.62 ERA
Swaggerty IP, 6 ER, 7 H, 3 K, HRA -- 5.68 ERA
Roach, Jensen and Cassa 3 IP scoreless relief

Idaho Falls' undefeated second-half run came to a screeching halt Sunday as Ogden pounded 3 Chukar pitchers. Starter Burke Baldwin walked 3 in the 1st but kept the Raptors off the scoreboard and stranded 2 more in the 3rd. IF left 2 in scoring position in the 3rd and Ogden took the lead with 2 runs in the 4th. Baldwin was pulled with a run in and 2 on with none out and RP Zach Peterson allowed another run on a walk and hit before getting out of the inning. Peterson gave up a 2-run homer in the 5th but Alvi Morel scored on an error to cut the lead to 4-1. Ben Swaggerty came in for the 6th and gave up 4 runs on a grand slam by Ogden LF Brian Mathews to make it 8-1. Swaggerty loaded the bases with 3 singles to start the 7th and RP Jason Roach gave up 2 sac flies before getting out of the inning. The Chukars scored twice in the 7th on a Rubi Koko RBI double and Morel sac fly to cut it to 10-3 but that's as close as they'd get. Mathews was 2-5 for Ogden with his 5th homer and 4 RBI (23) to move to .280 and RP Cal Stanke (who took a loss versus IF in the teams' last series) got the win with 4 IP of 3 runs (1 ER) on 2 hits, 2 walks and 4 Ks to improve to 1-6 with an 8.07 ERA.

IF is 6-1 and 2 games up on first. Game 2 is tonight. No announced starters on the team site.

Rookie -- Burlington: Elizabethton 15, B-Royals 5

SS Molina 2-3, BB, 2B (5), 2 RBI (5), K, CS -- .207
1B Lane 1-2, HR (4), RBI (27), K, RS -- .306
PH-1B Amyx 1-3, 2B (8), RBI (20) -- .226
2B Martin 2-4, BB, 2 2B (11), 2 K, RS, E (8) -- .208
CF Norris 0-3, 2 BB, K, RS, SB (21) -- .271
RF Tucker 1-4, BB, 2B (12), K -- .278
* The Royals stranded 11.

Paukovits 2 2/3 IP, 4 ER, 4 H, 3 BB, K -- L, 0-3, 5.40 ERA
Bernat 1 2/3 IP, 6 ER, 6 H, 4 BB, 2 K, HRA -- 3.86 ERA, damaged a better ERA
Hastry 1 2/3 IP, 5 R (4 ER), 8 H, K -- 3.57 ERA
J. Diaz 2 IP, 2 K -- 6.62 ERA

The Twins racked up an 11-run massacre in the 5th to cruise to the 2-game sweep to avenge an earlier sweep at the hands of the Royals. Starter Bryan Paukovits gave up a run on 2 hits in the 1st but Yeldrys Molina smacked a 2-out 2-run double in the 2nd before pulling a Berroa and getting thrown out at third on the play to end the inning. Two walks and a hit off Paukovits tied the game in the 2nd but Jake Lane hit a solo homer in the 3rd for the 4th of his career to make it 3-2 B-Royals. Again the lead didn't hold as Paukovits handed the ball to David Bernat with 2 out and the bases loaded and Bernat gave up an RBI single and bases-loaded walk to make it 4-3 Twins. Bernat stranded the bases loaded in the 3rd and 4th but wasn't as lucky with the bases juiced in the 5th as 3B Deibinson Romero cranked a grand slam. Bernat and Bobby Hastry reloaded the bases and 4 hits, a hit batsman and a Kyle Martin error allowed 7 more runs to score in the inning to make it 15-3. Burlington added runs in the 7th and 9th on a Twins error that scored Kyle Martin and a Brett Amyx RBI double but left the bases loaded in the 9th. Romero was 3-5 for the Twins with his 8th double, 6th homer and 4 RBI (33) to move to .305, SS Estarlin De Los Santos was 3-5 with his 8th double and 3 RBI (32) to move to .278 and SP David Bromberg got the win with 6 IP of 3 ER on 4 hits, 4 walks and 10 Ks to improve to 6-0 with a 2.68 ERA.

Burlington is 24-20 and 7 games back. A 2-game home set versus the Bluefield Orioles (22-25) starts tonight. No announced starters on the team site. The Royals are 1-3 versus the O's.

Rookie -- AZL: off day

The Royals play the 5-3 Mariners tonight.
