* Omaha went on a rampage to take the opener from Carlos Rosa and the Aces. Rosa didn't factor into the massacre, as he pitched a scoreless inning of relief, but the O-Royals blistered SP Bryan Augenstein. Alex Gordon creamed a 2-run solo homer in the 1st for his 3rd of the season and Wilson Betemit singled in a run to make it 2-0 Omaha. Gaby Hernandez started a middling night (good overall I guess) by stranding the bases full in the 1st, but gave up a solo homer in the 2nd. Betemit hit another RBI single in the 3rd and the Royals scored 4 in the 4th on a Gordon RBI single, David Lough RBI single and a 2-run Ed Lucas single to chase Augenstein and make it 7-1. Betemit hit a 2-run single in the 5th and Ed Lucas hit an RBI double to make it 10-1. Things got chippy in the 8th as Edwin Bellorin got hit by a pitch and ejections ensued. Reno got a run in the 8th but that was it. Augenstein allowed 7 runs (5 ER) over 3 2/3 IP to drop to 1-5. 1B-3B Ed Rogers had 2 hits for the Aces. Omaha is 15-15. Bryan Bullington faces former Royal Billy Buckner in Wednesday's start.

M. Santiago 6 IP, ER, 6 H, 3 BB, 3 K, WP -- 2.73 ERA
Coleman 3 IP, 3 K -- W, 1-0, 2.29 ERA
* The Nats stayed in the game until rehabbing Rockies SP Jeff Francis was pulled and then jumped on the AA guys to get a 4-1 win and take 3 of 4. The Naturals did a good job of battling Francis as they stranded 2 in the 2nd and 1 in the 3rd and 2 in the 5th. Mario Santiago hung with the big leaguer and got a double play to escape a bases-loaded jam in the 5th. Tulsa's run came on a solo homer to lead off the 6th and Francis retired the last 7 he faced. Mike Moustakas tied the game with a sac fly in the 8th before Clint Robinson, Nick Van Stratten and Jeff Howell rapped RBI singles to make it 4-1. RP Stuart Pomeranz allowed 4 ER over an IP to take the loss. 3B Matt Repec had 2 hits. The Naturals are 21-10 and have Wednesday off.

1B Hosmer 2-5, 3 RBI (24) -- .409
3B Romak 2-4, RBI (16), RS -- .205, drop from cleanup to 7th made a difference
SS Navarro 1-5, RBI (3), K, RS -- .192
2B Alfaro 1-4, RBI (8) -- .200
CF Ortiz 1-4, BB, 2 K, 2 RS, SB (10) -- .288
C S. Perez 1-4, 2B (6), RS, 2 E (4) -- .316
Melville 5 1/3 IP, 5 R (4 ER), 5 H, BB, 6 K, HRA -- L, 1-5, 9.76 ERA
Lafferty 3 2/3 IP, 4 ER, 6 H, K, HRA, WP -- 5.14 ERA
* The Rocks made a valiant comeback rally in the 9th but fell 1 run short. The Rocks scored a run on an error in the 1st but Lynchburg got the run back off Tim Melville in the 2nd. Melville gave up a solo homer in the 4th but got no offensive support as Hillcats SP Scott Carroll retired the last 17 he faced, even if 1 was a strikeout where Adrian Ortiz reached, which technically isn't an out, so the last 16. Melville gave up 3 runs before getting pulled in the 6th and Brendan Lafferty gave up 3 runs in the 7th to make it 8-1. A solo homer in the 8th made it 9-1, but the Rocks tallied 3 in the 8th on a Rey Navarro RBI single and 2-run Eric Hosmer single (aided by an error). Jamie Romak and J.D. Alfaro hit RBI singles in the 9th and Hosmer came through with a 2-out, 2-run single to cut it to 9-8, but the Rocks would leave the bases loaded. Carroll allowed only 2 hits with 2 Ks over 7 IP to get his 1st win for the 'Cats. C Devin Mesoraco was 3-4 and a double shy of the cycle as he hit his 7th HR with 4 RBI (22) to move to .347. LF Josh Fellhauer also had 3 hits for Lynchburg. The Rocks are 12-20. Ivor Hodgson starts Wednesday for Wilmington.
A - Burlington: Cedar Rapids 5, Bees 2
LF Testa 2-4, HR (3), RBI (13), K, RS -- .258
DH F. Cruz 1-3, RS -- .186
C Myers 0-4, 2 K -- .252
CF Richardson 0-4, E -- .190
Sample 6 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 3 BB -- 4.95 ERA
Hodge 2 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, BB, 2 K -- L, 0-1, 4.02 ERA
* The game was knotted in the 7th before the Kernels unknotted it off Mitch Hodge for the win. Tyler Sample gave up a run on a couple XBH in the 1st but Fernando Cruz scored on a wild pitch in the 2nd to tie the game. Sample and CR SP Patrick Corbin dueled into the 6th before Sample allowed a run to allow the Kernels to edge ahead. The lead lasted one batter as Carlo Testa led off the 7th with his 3rd homer. Hodge came on for the 7th and allowed 3 runs, and Testa's longball was the Bees' last hit. Corbin worked 8 strong innings to move to 6-0. CF Mike Trout and DH Luis Jimenez had 2 hits while Jimenez drove in 2 runs (27). The Bees are 12-21. A 4-game home set with the Peoria Chiefs (19-14, A Cubs) starts Wednesday.
