* Gaby Hernandez got rocked like Woodstock and Salt Lake left Omaha in the dust. The 1st started with a homer by CF Terry Evans and the Bees finished the inning with 5 runs on 8 hits (the rest were singles). Alex Gordon hit his 6th homer in the bottom of the 1st but Evans hit his 2nd homer of the game in the 4th to get the run back. Gordon tripled and scored in the bottom of the 4th but, this time, Salt Lake slapped up 5 more runs in the 5th to chase Hernandez. David Lough tripled home a run in the 5th but the damage was done. The Bees poured on 3 late runs. Bees SP Sean O'Sullivan allowed 3 ER over 7 IP to even his record at 4-4. Five Salt Lake batters had multiple hits with 4 having 3. Evans and RF Nick Gorneault had 2 HR each with Gorneault driving in 5 runs. DH Mark Trumbo drove in 4 runs (37). Omaha is 19-21. Jorge Campillo starts the finale for Omaha Sunday.

* An 11-run tear over 2 innings made for a runaway win for NW Arkansas. Mario Santiago gave up a run on 2 hits in the 1st but the Naturals got 2 in their half on a 2-run Mike Moustakas homer for his 11th of the season. The Travelers tied it on 2 hits in the 2nd but Tim Smith hammered a 2-run homer (his 3rd) and Chris McConnell doubled and scored on an error to make it 5-2. Santiago gave up a homer in the 3rd, but the Naturals started to edge away with 3 in the 4th on a Johnny Giavotella sac fly and 2-run Clint Robinson double. They put it on ice with 6 in the 5th on a Smith RBI single, Derrick Robinson RBI single, Giavotella RBI forceout, and 3-run Clint Robinson homer for his 5th of the season. For good measure, the Naturals added 5 in the 6th on a 3-run Smith homer (his 4th and 2nd of the game), and a 2-run Clint Robinson double. Arkansas got a run in the 8th as a last gasp. Arkansas SP Ryan Brasier took the loss with 8 runs (7 ER) over 3 2/3 IP. Three Travs had 2 hits as DH Paul McAnulty drove in 2 runs (22) including his 11th homer. NWA is 27-14. The 19 runs and 22 hits are a club record. Clint Robinson's 7 RBI tied a club mark. Eduardo Paulino starts Sunday's series finale.

* Tim Melville had a great start but the game lasted 15 innings until the Rocks finally ended it with the win. Melville and Pelicans SP Yeliar Castro dueled through 4 scoreless but both teams notched a run in the 5th as Fernando Garcia hit an RBI forceout for the Rocks. Barry Bowden stranded 2 after taking over for Melville in the 9th and did the same in the 10th. Ten straight Rocks had been retired going into the 12th when the Rocks left the bases full. Rey Navarro led off the 15th with a double but got thrown out at third on a fielder's choice. With 2 on and 2 out, Patrick Norris hit a walkoff single to end it. RP David Francis allowed an ER over 1 2/3 IP for the loss. 1B Michael Jones and 3B Samuel Sime had 2 hits for the Pelicans. The Rocks are 19-24. Chris Dwyer starts Sunday for Wilmington.

* The Bees started the game with 4 runs but it was all Rattlers thereafter. The Bees loaded the bases with 0 out in the 1st and Joey Lewis singled in a run before a run-scoring error, Rene Oriental double play and Jose Bonilla RBI single made it 4-0 Burlington. The Rattlers scored 2 in the 1st and then tied it before stranding 2 in the 4th off Bryan Paukovits. Wisconsin scored 3 in the 6th off Dusty Odenbach and the Bees left the bases full in the 7th. Wisconsin tacked on a run in the 8th and the Bees didn't threaten again. Rattlers SP Kyle Heckathorn got the win with 4 runs (1 ER) over 7 IP. C Cameron Garfield had 2 hits and SS Michael Marseco drove in 3 (17). The Bees are 15-26. Game 3 is Sunday afternoon.
