The one seemingly winnable game for Kansas City vs. the White Sox went by the wayside tonight as Jose Lima pitched like he has most of the year and the Royals came back only to lose a slugfest, 11-8. Lima gave up a Konerko 3-run shot in the 1st and 7 runs in 4 innings. KC scored 3 in the 5th on a balk and a Stairs double and tied the game in the 6th on back-to-back jacks by Buck and Gotay. Of course, Ryan Jensen and Leo Nunez promptly gave up 3 in the bottom of that inning and the Sox bullpen came in and shut the Royals down for the win. Another hard-fought loss. Graffanino and Gotay had 2 hits each, Teahen had 3 RBI and only DeJesus had an 0-fer tonight. Emil Brown only got 1 hit but walked and scored twice. Jimmy Gobble pitched a scoreless 8th in his season debut.
I wonder how much longer Lima's one good start will buy him. The Royals aren't getting much from him in starts like this. Tomorrow it's Greinke v. Garland. We'll see which Zack shows up. Could be a pitchers' duel, could be a rout. I'll say CWS 6, KC 2. I wonder when Huber will get his first PT. Might be harsh throwing him in against Garland or Buehrle. He's gotta face them sometime, tho.
