Swept....again

If I would have told you, as a Royals fan, in March that on June 26, Jose Lima's record would include the numbers 6 and 1, you probably would have held out hope that he was 6-1 but known deep down inside the way Royals FA signings have gone in recent years, he would probably be 1-6. The nightmare has come true. The Royals scored 2 in the 1st but that was before Lima took the mound. He gave up 2 in the 1st and 4 over 4 2/3 IP to get the loss in a 9-4 sweep clincher by Colorado Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile the team's singles barrage continued as all but 1 of the 10 Royals hits was of the one-base variety. The 1 was a 2-run homer by Matt Stairs in the 9th to account for the other 2 KC runs. Kansas City goes into one of the most prolific hitters' parks in MLB history and can hit only singles. Perfect. Teahen was the only Royal with 2 hits and Emil Brown had his hit to move his hit streak to 13 games. The golden 0-fers went to Berroa and Graffanino today. Sisco, Nunez and MacDougal also gave up runs out of the pen. Another great day to be a Royals fan. When it rains it pours. Oh, on a good note, Justin Huber had an RBI for the second straight day so he's holding his own thus far. Bell finally switched Berroa out of the leadoff position in favor of DeJesus, who went 1-5. Berroa had his 0-fer in the 2-hole.

On to the HomerDome in Minnesota to face the 40-33 Twins. Johan Santana isn't slated to go in the set. Game 1 tomorrow is Greinke v. Joe Mays, who beat the Royals April 27 but did give up 4 ER doing so. Greinke faces the Twins for the first time this season. Let's see what Zack has tomorrow. He's been Lima-esque of late. The Royals return later this week to Kauffman to take on the Angels. Could be another tough week, but the Royals seem to play better against better teams.
