Royals' pitchers on lockdown again

Another great game from KC pitchers tonight as Runelvys holds SF to 1 ER and 4 hits in 6 innings and the offense does enough to get a 4-1 win. Wood, Affeldt and MacDougal also came in and held the Giants down and the team played solid defense behind all four pitchers, including 3 DPs. Berroa, DeJesus, Graffanino and Diaz all have 2-hit games and the Royals get it done without Stairs or Sweeney in the lineup. The AP reports Sweeney was held out of the lineup as a precaution as he nurses his side. He might also miss Thursday's game. Maybe he'll get his hitting back together in the layoff. Graffanino is getting close to the .300 level at .294. All in all a fairly cut-and-dry game. The Royals still are getting little offensive production from the C spot as Alberto Castillo was 0-3 tonight. They need better production out of all the spots other than Sweeney at 1B, Graffanino, Emil Brown and DeJesus. Berroa kept his hot streak going but he'll cool off at some point. He's still only hitting .259. Tomorrow night Nightmare Jose Lima takes the mound, so it looks like SF may get one of the three. Then it's on to a better team in Arizona. Nice to see another road win tonight and also nice today to see Eli Marrero leave town. Not only did the Royals get rid of him, they even suckered Baltimore into giving up a minor league infielder for him. The Orioles GM makes Baird look good (see the Grimsley trade). Still no word on the Guiel front, either, as the deadline to either bring him up or make him an FA passed and Baird bought some time in the form of an extension. I doubt he'll go anywhere but at this point I don't know who KC would bounce to make room. Anyway, on to tomorrow.
