Complete effort

Tonight may have been the Royals' best game of the year. Greinke came out and got into and out of a bases loaded jam in the 1st, the Royals slapped together runs in the 1st and 2nd and it looked like business as usual lately. Then the Dodgers cut the lead in half and then took the lead on a 2-run homer by OF Jason Grabowski off Greinke. Greinke gave way to Wood after 5 and the Royals went to work in the 6th. KC took advantage of an LA error and then Costa hustled out a potential double-play ball as the Royals took the lead and then, of all people, Alberto Castillo laces a double down the 3B line to score 2 and the Royals take an 8-3 lead. Every Royal starter had a hit in the game and only 3 -- Brown, Costa and Gotay -- didn't have 2 hits. Unlike in recent past wins, no one person stepped up and did the work (other than Castillo) -- it was a team effort, which was nice to see. Everybody's taking care of business. I wonder how long it can last. The Royals are making good teams look very normal lately. Oh, and Affeldt also came in and got tagged for 3 in the 9th after bitching to the Star about his role on the team and not liking being a setup man. Way to back it up, Einstein. If you can't walk the walk, don't bitch. It doesn't do you any good to get more playing time or get traded, either one.

Apparently, Sweeney will also not go on the DL as no major damage was shown to his elbow or wrist -- he's "day to day". Tomorrow night the 'Stros come to town and the Rocket takes the mound against J.P. Howell. That makes me want to go to a Royals game.
