Royals 9, Arizona 4 (12)

What started out as a pitchers' duel thru 9 innings became a see-saw contest in extras but, for a change, the Royals came out on top in such a game with 6 runs in the 12th. Of course, KC gave the bullpen chances in the 10th and 11th to close it out but Ryan Jensen couldn't get it done until he had a 6-run cushion and, even then, he gives up a jack to Tony Clark. Hey, a W is a W. Emil Brown gets a run across in the 10th, Counsell homers to tie the game. Castillo doubles in a run in the 11th, McCracken hits an RBI triple to tie the game. Finally the Royals break it open and, thank God, Jensen can't do enough to blow it. Berroa was 2-7 with 2 RBI but 0 BBs again, again hitting leadoff. Brown was 2-5 for another multi-hit game. Nice to see. Teahen stepped up to go 3-6 with the first RBI in the 12th and also scored that inning. Graffanino was 3-3 although he didn't start so he kept his hot bat going. Castillo was 2-5 to get his average over .200. Carrasco stepped up with another great start, 1 ER over 6 IP. Nunez and Burgos cleaned up innings 7-9 and then Jensen stepped in. The Royals' recent blessing of good offense pulled this one out.

Next up is LA starting Tuesday at the K. Game 1 is Runelvys v. Jeff Weaver, definitely a winnable game. Weaver's got a 5.27 ERA. Runelvys has been pitching well lately, so hopefully he can go one more start.

This comment is simply to say that System of a Down are insane.

But gosh, is it fun to listen to the night/day transitions in their songs. Nothing but chaos for half a minute, then they switch to something that everybody could dance to, if they so chose.

Then, chaos again, then back to the grind, then...it's a great formula, and it's what I loved about Toxicity and Chop Suey on their last album.

There's an article about them in the latest Rolling Stone. Pretty interesting -- you might be able to check it out online at the RS site. Anyway, have you heard Mezmerize? It's their best one yet. Less hard stuff than the Toxicity album but I like the songs better -- and I liked that album a lot.

No, haven't caught Mesmerize yet...I loved those two songs on the last album, but couldn't catch on with much else, so I'm a bit leery on buying this new one. I gotta hear another song or two first.

But I'll be moving to a new job where I'll be making a lot more money (at least for a while), so perhaps I'll just use my increased income to go and pick it up. Haven't bought a new CD in months. My Sevendust CD's are getting a bit long in the tooth.
