* Omaha stayed just ahead of the Rainiers to get the win Tuesday. Matt Herges made the start and gave up a 2-run homer in the 1st but the O-Royals answered with 3 in their half on a Scott Thorman RBI groundout and 2-run Jai Miller single. The teams took turns stranding runners until Gaby Hernandez returned to old form and gave up a solo homer to Justin Smoak to tie it in the 5th. Thorman slugged a leadoff homer in the Omaha 5th for his 16th of the season. Federico Castaneda came in with the bases loaded and 1 out in the 6th and got two key Ks to escape the jam. A 2-run error by M's top prospect Dustin Ackley helped Omaha break it open in the 7th and a solo homer off Castaneda in the 8th didn't end up making a difference. Omaha is 64-54 and 3 1/2 games back. They go for the sweep Wednesday as Edgar Osuna makes the start.
